Any freq. in the 851 to 854 range with a zero in the 4th decimal place can not be tracked without re-banding. e.g. 851.0250. Any freq. with a 5 in the 4th decimal place can still be tracked OK. Thus, as you said, the simulcast system is not affected by re-banding, but many of the Intellirepeater sites, like Walter's Hill are.

And get the licenses for all those 851 to 854 freqs. I checked 5 freqs. at random from the Intellirepeater sites and none of them are licensed.

In fact the only YE licenses are for the two IR sites that didn't have any frequencies to reconfigure. Go figure. Oh well, we'll see what comes up next week.

Um... This is a tough one to answer with a straight face.

The Washington County prime simulcast and the Western simulcast are both operating as "rebanded", however, Washington County has only enabled one rebanding frequency at this time. It is still not clear what the final alignment of 16 channels for the Washington County prime simulcast is going to be.

The Clackamas County prime and Eastern simulcast are both operating as "not rebanded". It is expected that they will finally throw the switch (as will Newberg) on 11/20 (see other posts in this forum). Portland is also expected to switch all applicable sites to rebanded frequencies on the 20th.

Intersting find: I found a letter from the Washington County senior technician/system manager to the FCC requesting extensions of time to file for both Clackamas County and Newberg. I guess Washington County does have some hand in Newbergs system, after all.

That site is simulcast from Top Hill, Round Top Mountain, Pumpkin Ridge and the tower at Buxton Lookout. Has pretty good coverage. FCC License Information

What I find amazing is that I get better reception (almost - let's say it's more consistent) from that subsystem than I do from the prime simulcast system out here in northwest gresham... go figure.

When the Tech guys are testing the new frequencies, is it possible they would re-broadcast over the air an hours worth of transmissions between LE, for testing?

I naturally turned on my scanners today because of the incident in Tualatin, I heard at 15:08 an incident w/BPD, then an hour later I was hearing the SAME thing.. I thought I was going crazy!

I have been listening to them talking about the issues they had today, and I know they were testing, so I'm assuming that is what they do?

Thanks in advance.

Now I'm not sure if I am hearing real time or not unless I hear Dispatch call out the time!!! =)

I've heard a recording playback once on some obscure talkgroup by techs. It sounded like someone actually took clips of huge incidents and spliced them together to be all rapid fire. I'm guessing it was used to make proper adjustments.

The recording went something like

"Water shooting out of the street on Baseline Road!"
"Shots fired at CHB and Watson!"
"Huge traffic backup on Highway 6 westbound"

And then there was some stuff sounded like it came from training exercises or something like

"Robbery at First Tech Credit Union. Suspects are getting away in a White Ford Bronco"
"We got looting and riots at Fred Meyer! We need backup!"
"There's an unofficial lane reversal on Highway 26! The westbound lanes are now eastbound!"

This about an year ago.

Thanks.. to be honest I wasn't even paying attention to the frequency or talkgroups.. =)

I have a VERY limited knowledge/understanding of all the re-banding, but I have always manually programmed my scanners myself.

I guess I'll just have to wait.. and hope (crossing fingers) that my scanners still pick everything up after they get done with everything.. whenever that will be =)

Tomorrow is their day off (the Tech Guys) so they will be back at it Thursday..
Very interesting listening to them talk as I do pick up on and learn a few new things here and there =)

Any updates? This is the 20th. I've been searching the 851-854 range on and off for a
few weeks now. All I've heard is the new West Wash. Co. system and the Clark Co.
Yacolt fill-in site. Those 10 or so freqs. are the only things running on that
whole 851-854 band. You would think that they would have been testing some
of the new freqs. before today.

Thanks for the update. The delay is not unexpected since many (most?) of the re-banded freqs. for Portland have not been licensed yet.

I haven't really been listening for a while, but after the shootings in Hillsboro and Cornelius yesterday, I grabbed every radio I could to listen in.

To my disappointment WCSO 1 fill in repeaters on 855.7375 and 859.1625 are now silent (after the new site has come in line. I'm assuming the Fire Ops 32 repeaters on 854.4375 and 851.6375 have also suffered the same fate.

Just a FYI
