Benton county
can anyone tell me how to listen to benton county sheriff, corvallis police and philomath police. I have been listening for the last year and on wed. they changed something I believe that they switched to digital. I orderd a new digital scanner but the guy at scanner master said that they still may be encrypted. can anyone tell me any more information?

Try the RR database page:
http://www.radioreference.com/module...e=RR&ctid=2206
Short of that, try the "Display all FCC licenses..." link at the bottom of the page:
http://www.radioreference.com/module...c&xid=2206&t=2
I have no idea if they are encrypted or digital, but a quick glance at the FCC database doesn't seem to show digital frequencies in use. Looks like most municpal freqs are still on VHF. Try searching with your scanner through the VHF range, or plugging in most frequencies listed. Betcha you'll find they changed frequency assignments or something...
Good luck!

Benton County are still on Vhf but they can at any time switch over to P25. Its unknown if when fully swich to p25. I have also heard that Corvallis PD as switched p25 full time for now.

APCO Project 25 (P25) is an attempt to standardize digital public safety comms (conventional and trunked). Cruise over to the Wiki for all you ever wanted to know (and then some):
http://www.radioreference.com/wiki/index.php/Project_25
Which scanner did you purchase? You mentioned, "I orderd a new digital scanner...", in your previous post.
As long as you have a recent digital scanner and the signal is not encrypted, yes, you should be able to monitor the radio traffic. That's not a guarantee, though.
Spend some time reading the past posts and Wiki information on the topic if you get the chance. It's confusing at first, that's for sure.

re: Benton county
I not sure if Cpd is back on 155.490. I asked a one of the scanner guys in Eugene and they said last week they were digtial? I don't know much about 396.Im sure you can find some one in you area that can help you. I live in florence i be going to Engene tommow i listen on 159.0975 and 155.490 for CPD. If you listing to 155.490 if hear 800 number thats CPD. If not try 159.0975 and listen if here 800 number that be them. I have 250d thats easy program but newer scanner are harder then older ones.

I listen to all 3 Corvallis, Benton county sheriff and philomath police all on155.4900 sometimes digital but not all the time. I think they are going through a transition. I get Springfield police on 460.1250 and that is completly digital. I have yet to find someone else in my area that is into scanning. If anyone reads this from the Corvallis area let me know...

Hi Ron, I'm down here in Eugene.
Have you tried any EPD Frequencies? I've got the breakdown for you.
EPD 1 460.300 p25
EPD 2 460.050 p25
EPD 3 460.175 p25/analog (mainly used by LCSO)
EPD 4 460.350 p25 (tac-4)
EPD 5 460.250 p25 (tac-5)
EPD 6 460.250 (tac-5 simplex) p25
EPD 7 460.400 (tac-7) p25 (often used for training/swat simulation)
EPD 8 460.525 unkown
EPD 9 460.450 analog (UofO Dept. Of Public Safety)
EPD 10 460.575 p25/analog (MetroNet) "Frank" Units dispatch on this channel in analog.
EPD 11 460.625 unknown
SPD 1 460.125 p25
SPD 2 460.475 p25
LCSO 1 Central 460.225 analog
LCSO 2 Adam 460.425 analog
LCSO 3 Sam 460.175 analog (usually simplex)
Hope this helps.

Corvallis Fire Department
Earlier this week, I heard a CFD medic unit using what appeared to be a repeater indicating they were currently at Woodburn on I-5. They apparently were using an input of 156.195 and a 154.340 output. As strong as the 154.340 signal was, I assume it was from the Marys Peak site. The dispatcher told the mobile unit that their signal was so strong it was like they were next door. I didn't detect any of the transmission coming over the 158.820 frequency at that time. Since then, I hear them back on 158.820. Any idea if this is the long-range plan (repeater operation) and, if so, if only for CFD or for all Benton County fire agencies? The Marys Peak (assuming that is what I was hearing) sure packs a wallop compared to the Vineyard site (again, assuming that's where the 158.820 base signal originates). I can see where it would be nice to have that long-range coverage, especially when medic units are transporting to Portland-area hospitals. Anyone have any ideas on where they are headed with these changes?

Do you heard traffic on 158.820 all the time or off and on?

Yes, I hear traffic on 158.820 regularly as well. That one evening (Wednesday, I think), neither the medic unit nor the dispatcher were coming through on 158.820 so me thinks they were conducting a test of the repeater.
