Taurus PT140 in .40 or my XDm .45ACP.

The XDm is a bit bulky for carry, but in MN there is no need to conceal (with a permit), though I usually do.

In the winter, keeping the XDm concealed is no biggy, but in the summer it is.

Being right on the border of MN and WI, WI honors the MN permit, but you have to follow WI law, which does require concealment, so it's usually the .40 I carry.

Wife likes her Ruger LC9

Hard to answer this one, are you talking a single intruder or a group of armed people? It doesn't matter, adequate either way! Oh yeah, just remeber, the sound of cocking your weapon was just for movies, keep one in the chamber at all times.

Here's mine. Fox Labs 5.3 Mark 5 4oz Pepper Spray, Olight M22 & M21X warrior flash lights. Last is my upgrade Springfield XD-9mm with the PRP trigger kit installed. If you notice on the my handgun the smear mark on the Springfield Armory USA area it was from the flash on the camera.

I have Glocks, Berettas, S&W's, Tauruses (or is it Taurusi?), Winchesters, Mossbergs, etc.

Most of them stay in the gun safe but I keep a few hidden throughout the house. My first choice for home defense is a Glock 21SF with Winchester Ranger Talon, and a Winchester SXP 12ga. with PDX1 slug/buckshot.

For concealed carry, I usually go with a S&W Bodyguard with Remington Golden Saber. Also, I'm 6'5" 220lbs, and never without a portable radio.

Sounds like my uncle with his handguns, riffles and shotguns. When he was alive he had his weapons around the house and rest locked up in the safe for safe keeping. I'm about 6'7 about 245 lbs medium build always been tall since I was 12 going on 13 years of age I haven't been a fight or came close to it.

In storage at my fiance's: Ruger AP-9 9mm, H&K HK97 .308, S&R 12 Gauge, Remington 870 Express Tactical 12 Gauge (Shortened to just barely legal), Winchester 1200 AL 12 Gauge (Bushmastered for tough terrain), Daewoo DP-51 9mm, Ruger Bulldog .44, twin Hi-Point .380's... And a Barret M82A1 .50 thats my cousin's but I somehow end up keeping every time I ask about it...

Then we go to the blades.... You really don't want to ask....

This little beauty: http://mistman.pdp10.org/pub/filebox...agle_knife.jpg which I happened upon during a hike in the WA Cascades a couple summers ago. There's also a brown leather holster/sheath thing that goes with it, but I didn't include it in the picture. The entire blade area's actually just over ten inches long, although it doesn't look it in the picture since my camera's optics tend to distort things rather severely on close-up. (Using the flash probably didn't help, either.)

Thankfully I haven't had to test its worth as a means of personal protection (I'll stick with the domestic-origin colourful ribbed model for that ;o) but it did work well for hacking my way through a rather over-vegetated hiking trail last fall, in lieu of my trusty machete that has gone AWOL.

I have nothing against firearms myself, neither personally nor politically, although I probably wouldn't have one. I prefer blades instead.

What is your personal protection?
After God-and-prayer, a variety that could include:
  • Awareness, attitude, attention,
  • Physical fitness, and posture,
  • Guns, bullets, knives, and other objects sharp or dull, big or small
  • Young big dog with sharp teeth or old big dog with dentures
  • Interest in avoiding trouble or convincing it to avoid me
  • And a memory of how effective signage can be, especially when rememvbering these three I saw along a rural driveway
    • Beware of mean dog
    • Forget dog, beware of man with gun
    • Forget man with gun, beware of angry wife
    or these others:
    • Anyone found trespassing will be found dead in the morning
    • If you believe in life-after-death, trespass here and we will help you test your theory
    • No trespassing, and that means you!
..and maybe just a smile.

Just out of curiosity, why, both on here and on the firearms thread, would you advertise what you own? Some of you don't hide your identity. Others use a pseudonym, but even they can be hacked back to a real person if someone really wanted to.

What ever happened to operational security? I would think that it'd be better to not advertise what you own.
I have the same question about that prepper show on TV. Why would anyone showcase their plans? It just seems dumb to me that anyone would do that

It's something to talk about besides talking about scanners, radios and etc.

But on an open, public forum, that could be read by anybody?

It is also possible that the lists posted here by some are not all-inclusive, but are only listing "favorite" items.
