No mention of the ARINC protest?

I like how Kimball put on a presentation about 10 days before the Commissioners meeting and one of their slides says, "If you don't hurry up and give Motorola this system, someone will protest".

Someone DID protest, and there is zero mention of the protest in the presentation material or the Commissioners meeting notes.

Is the system moving forward? I was wondering if any progress is being made? There hasn't been any posts in quite some time.

No. Still looking for funding. This little county doesn't have that kind of money.
The system proposed would cost half of the total county budget.... We have lot's of
tourist here, but all that money ends up in local business. My taxes are so high now, I'll
probably be on bread and water by the end of the year.

If something develops, I will post it....

Well, at least my old school analog scanner will still be useful for the time being. I'm looking into buying a digital scanner to monitor surrounding counties though.

As far as I know the county is still searching for funding for the new system..

4 of the original licenses granted way back on 12/15/03 were cancelled 12/17/2008. (Failure to
construct ? )
WPZA541
WPZA545
WPZA546
WPZA547

The county has been operating a analog frequency using 929.1625 (Private carrier paging), which repeats 46.180 (dispatcher only) for months. Maybe an attempt to delay cancellation of the remaining frequencies ? (WQCF229)

This past week, new activity has appeared:

858.2626 pl 192.8 (Repeater output) analog NFM . This frequency repeats 46.180, but more interestingly
is also being used for "Court House Security". Don't know if this set up is being used to test a future
coverage area, or will be a permanent situation.

I would assume this equipment was part of the equipment purchased from Lower Allen Twp some time
ago.

.The operation is from the Court House site, and no other activity has been noted. Will post if anything
new surfaces.....

Don't have a clue. The county web page has the usual PR info from engineering people who
looked at the system... Most of the info is very vague, except some paper work in March 2012

Motorola Solutions for radios
Alcatel-Lucent for the microwave
J. G. Construction to install tower sites.

The total 2013 county budget is a little under $42 million for the year, and I think the proposed
system as listed is gonna cost more than the total county budget.

There is no doubt the county needs new equipment, but how it will finance a major project
such as this is beyond comprehension. Especially for a small county like us..

I have searched all over the web, been to the court house several times asking questions, and
good solid answers are impossible to come by... Guess I'll set back and relax. Getting too old
to care. Listening to the daily freight train rumbling through town should hold me..

Have fun !

Currently pending before the FCC, are all of the microwave backbone license applications for this system. They were filed in early March, and should be approved, if all goes well, within the next few months.

Don't know for sure, but could be a good bet ! (14 locations)

They have also acquired new licenses for

V-Tac WQRC26 (4 channels)
U-Tac WQRC257 (4 channels)
I-Tac WQRB417 (2 channels)

Multiple sites involved (15)

There still have been no additions to the 800Mhz trunkiing system. Only three sites
licensed, and they will surely need more than that. These licenses expire 12/2013
so it will be interesting to see future developments..

Thanks. Should be about another dozen applications in the works to fill out the system. You
guys are going to cause me a lot of paper work, and sleepless nights !

Found an article from the Evening Sun dated 6/25/13. Sounds like Adams is ready to test the new system?

"Eline said he hopes the $25.5 million project will be in place and functioning by this time next year. He said the county is now beginning its work to test the new system and its equipment."

Chief, is there any word on paging? Will they switch to an alphanumeric system? Or remain tone+voice paging? Keep 46.18?

Default Paging

An alphanumeric paging system will also be part of the new system, the legacy 48.18 voice paging will continue as long as the current equipment does not require extensive and costly repairs.
