Default Allegheny County - McKees Rocks & Stowe

Long time lurker, recent poster. I'm not a techie, I just want to listen to certain actitvity on my scanner. There were two localities that I couldn't seem to find "good" frequencies for. Namely McKees Rocks & Stowe Township police in Allegheny County / Pittsburgh area.

I admire and respect the amount of time and effort the authors have put into the RR Database and the K3FS Pittsburgh Area Scanning Page. For me, it was just these two localities that didn't seem to work. I've been watching both police departments cars blaze by with lights and sirens for some time now - with no air traffic. HMMMMMMMM??????

Solution - I ran a query on the FCC database for the name of the towns, zip, and FRC. I was able to narrow it down to three call signs in less than five minutes. I plugged the frequencies into my trusty Trident TRX-200 and sat for a bit at the local Eat N Park (McKees Rocks and Stowe Twp border one another).

Wallah!!! Stowe Township PD was lighting up the scanner! I haven't confirmed the remaining frequencies as to whether they are additional PD freq's or Fire/Emergency. Here are the freq's:

WBC286 / FRN 0003168192 TOWNSHIP OF STOWE
465.0250 - CONFIRMED STOWE PD
465.1250
465.4500

WPCG423 / FRN 0003172004 MC KEES ROCKS, BORO OF
458.3875

WPCG913 / FRN 0003172004 MC KEES ROCKS, BOROUGH OF
460.3250

If anyone lives in those towns and can help us confirm the use of the freq's, it would be greatly appreciated. Once we are sure of the traffic, we can have the pages updated.

What you heard is the input for 460.025. 465.025 is the input freq. Why you are not hearing Stowe, or McKees Rocks on the output of 460.025 I do not know. I can hear them at my location. I am too far away to hear if they are using any simplex freqs, as some of those listed.

I would look and make sure you have 460.025 programmed correctly in the radio, and if using PL, make sure the correct PL is programmed in. If those are correct, and you are still unable to hear them I would check your antenna. Are you receiving other distant stations OK? Other than that I no have idea why you can not hear them.

The other 465.125, is an input to another repeater. Try 460.125 to hear the repeater.

460.025 131.8

McKees Rocks share this frequency, Rocks is dispatched by Allegheny County (1400) and Stowe has in house dispathers-who can be extremely unprofessional and downright silly. Stowe will call out car numbers-900 #'s. If you want a good earful listen after 2300 on Friday and Saturday nights. Unsure of public works-not worth hearing in my opinion.
