Pro-106 Philly Police n Fire No Audio
As I stated in a previous thread/forum, this is my first digital scanner. Got a lot of help here on RR programming my scanner and it worked GREAT, until today. I have the cable that goes from PC to scanner. I also upgraded to 2.1, so I am making progress. Here's the problem, today my scanner is stopping at Philly Police and Fire channels however no audio. I do have PA Turnpike frequencies loaded into scanner and the audio is fine. They are still on conventional. I read somewhere on here about rebanding or putting something in the tables? However, I have no clue as to how to do it. All I did was download from RR and it worked as I said until today. I apologize if this is a stupid question, as I said I'm new at this. The last scanner I had was 15 to 20 years ago, with the banks and all that. So if anyone can help me, I would really appreciate it.

I am still learning also, but from what I have read in other RR threads, three things come to mind: - Check the attentuator settings,
- Consider re-downloading the desired info from the RRDB. This might help if your problem is with a trunked radio system, and if a new Control-Channel (or channel in the TRS pool) was discovered and added to the list. If a new control-channel was discovered since your last download, it might be the one that is in use when your radio stops scanning but remains silent.
- Consider testing with the wildcard talkgroup for the desired TSYS, if your problem is with a trunked radio system. Knowing whether you can hear your desired talkgroup via the wildcard (as compared to listening directly with the programmed talkgroup) can help narrow the list of possible problems.
You probably have checked all of the above already. I mention them just in case they help rule-out or better identify certain issues. Other members who are experts might be able to help you identify the problem right away.
Hope this helps,

Trunked Radio system. Philly MOT 800/900. I dont know how to test with a wildcard talk group. I did redownload it from RR tonight, same result. Does anyone know if Philly changed something because my scanner worked perfectly fine last week. Im really new at this, I hope I don't sound stupid. If I do sorry.

Certainly not stupid. This happens to a lot of us at one time or another. It just takes a little work to figure it out. We all had to learn this stuff, too, and many like me are still learning.

A fourth thing I recall someone posting in another thread is to scan fewer items involving fewer trunked systems, because sometimes if a scanner is scanning a very long list of items (especially involving multiple trunked-systems), the scanner might miss the control-channel's control-signals for the specific trunked-system and yet land on the voice-channel for an active talkgroup in that system. In this situation, the scanner does not know how to control the voice channel (because it only caught the voice channel but not the control channel), and will not open the speaker, even though the voice channel has captured the scanner's attention for the moment. The suggested solution was to scan fewer trunked-systems, so the radio has more time to listen for a given trunked-system's control-channel signals.
I will try to find some instructions on how to use the wildcard, or enter it if it is missing, unless someone else can provide those instructions sooner.
Edit:
I haven't found any better references than the ones many other posts also reference:
Hope this helps,

The Philadelphia Mot 800/900 System only has 1 trunked system. I know they have been doing a lot of testing on the system. I was hearing it during the day a couple weeks ago doing "radio checks". So I don't know if they added/deleted/control frequencies. I read the manual and figured out how to put the "wildcard" in the talkgroup. The scanner did stop on the channel with "wildcard" but still no sound. I don't think there is anything wrong w/scanner b/c I can pick up PA Turnpike District 4 very well with good audio. Turnpike is conventional/analog.

The testing on the "old" system was for reprogramming of the field radios for the "new" system, and has nothing to do with any control channel changes. The "old" system has not made any changes.

Thank You for your reply. Then do you have any idea why my scanner will not pick up the audio? It stops at the channels and other channels I receive audio like weather and PA Turnpike Dist 4. I didn't do anything except turn it on. I did redownload Philly MOT 800/900 and got the same result no audio. Any help you can provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Bob

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 2.3.5; en-us; ZTE-N910 Build/GRJ90) AppleWebKit/533.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/533.1)
Unfortunately i cannot say for sure where the problem lies. My pro-96, pro-197 and psr-800 have all been working fine this whole time. I would venture a guess and say check the various settings. Try to pick up another trunked system like montgomery county, just to narrow the problem down to only philly.

I also have Bucks County MOT 800/900 programmed. Same result as philly, it stops on channels but no audio. Conventional channels like PA Turnpike and Philly Airport and NE Philly Airport I can hear the audio.
