I didn't know the 785/796 were made in San Francisco.

So I just tried the p96 file, and my Pro-96 is not tracking anything. It's the same as when I tried doing it myself, when I hold on the control channel, it shows the DG icon, but barely decodes anything (maybe 10% at best). I just think this particular scanner is not tuned for that part of the band, so it's acting like it's deaf at those frequencies. Oh well, at least I tried! The folks in Bucks Co will enjoy it running the new Lower Bucks Police feed

Dan I've had a few of these Pro-96's that no matter what I did are just "deaf" and do not hear anything. I've opened them and checked the antenna solder connection to the board and there good but they do not hear anything. I can run 2 Pro-96 at the same time and only 1 would hit on a talkgroup when they were scanning the same things. Try to go to radioshack's website under help and download the 1.4 firmware update. The link is below:

If all else fail's PM me and we can meet up and I'll clone yours from mine.

I've successfully stumped myself. I had a BC796D working in and out and decoding the signal and hitting talkgroups. Then when I did a second one, same model, same upgraded firmware, it hit on NOTHING. They were both working on the Apco 25 system but one is 90% there the other is 0% decoding.
Could it be a different card inside each one?

I've got the BC796D down to a science pretty much. I've gotten them to scan, trunk, and decode P25 system with no issues. I cannot get the 785 to trunk though. It will decode the system when I manually tune to a frequency but it will not trunk or scan the talkgroup on the frequency. It is almost acting like an analog system just working on manually tuning the frequency. Any idea's? The step inside the 785 is limited to 5,7.25,10,12.5, more and auto. There is no 6.25 like their is with the 796 when you do the firmware update.

Philly's New P-25 System:
I have an old BC 250D scanner I brought in 2003 for Philly's digital 800 system when they switched to it in 2003. Since it will only trunk track a 3600 baud system, it will not trunk track the new system. However, it will decode the voice channels. So what I did was program the voice channels in this scanner in conventional mode and let in scan the voice channels. Presto: I started hearing transmissions! This old digital scanner was picking-up Philly's new system! It doesn't trunk track, but it's better than nothing! At least it's not a silent paper weight! That's my two cents.

I feel brain dead. I have a 996t with latest firmware. I have performed action to reset unit back to factory settings. I am using latest version of arc996pro and full subscription to radioreference.com I go on their site and import the philly p25 selection for fire and police. I then upload that to scanner. After doing all that I get nothing on those freqs. I am in Drexel Hill Pa only a few miles for west philly. What am I doing wrong to not be able to listen to philly ???
