So who is left that is not dispatched by county? Just Upper Merion and Pottstown at this point, correct? And Lower Merion on their own system?

I’m going to miss the self-dispatch for Upper Dublin. The in house dispatchers seem to have a better knowledge of the township and local residents etc. vs Eagleville, I think that makes for better listening. I’ve listened to my hometown department almost exclusively. Never really cared about surrounding departments unless something major was going down. Good thing they retain a local non trunk channel.
Anyone have a new list of ID's?

Lower Merion PD is dispatched by the county using Lower Merion's EDACS system.

Interesting to note the final two self dispatched police departments in the county are the encrypted ones. I have a feeling these two won't be changing over in the near term.

Does anyone happen to have a list of radio IDs that I can put into my scanner? I know there are a lot, but I seem to have lost the list I had.

My list is by no means extensive as I receive Bucks County much more clearly. I would suggest work on a Wiki page if something more extensive can be obtained.

Forgive my ignorance but for someone like me who isn't too familiar with how these things work will this effect my listening at all? I'm listening on a Pro-106. I download the channel lists from Radio Reference. Other than downloading an updated list will I lose the ability to listen to anything?

No, most people like to have the IDs so they can lock out what they don't want to listen to and alpha tag the ones they do. If you leave everything open, you will hear everything.

I've noticed that the radio ID's that the scanners show are slightly different than what my hand unit shows. The scanners strip off a few numbers in the beginning.

From the county tech meeting, Pottstown will switch to county dispatch (PD12) sometime in April.
New web based CAD is being rolled out this year with 4G modems being installed in police vehicles first starting in April.

Is Pottstown dropping the encryption?

I'm not 100% sure but if I had to guess, they will keep the encryption full time.

Hmm...I'll have to go check my Unitrunker file. I was running the software last week (had not done it in a long while) and noticed a new digital talkgroup with a few hits on it. I wonder if that will be the new Pottstown talkgroup or if they're just going to use the same talkgroup. I think (but don't have the info in front of me) that the only hits on the talkgroups were radio tech ID's.
