I am picking more activity up that way vs the trunked method.
37 is PSP. I have gotten hits on a total of 9 talk groups not counting the 3 military talk groups in the database.

So far that is the question. I have put the PSR800 into search of the 700 freqs and have yet to find it.

One of the three frequencies listed in the DB is the control channel. All of the listed frequencies are from documents filed with the FCC (and publicly available) regarding the buildout of the system. That's where they came from. Remaining unknowns include a few control channels, including Rocky Grove. If you are not getting control channel data, then you are not in a spot within the footprint of the site.

There is a Philly site listed in the documents filed with FCC, but it is not yet on the air which is why it is not listed in the DB, yet.

I went and re-entered the search parameters today (operator error???). I found a control channel on 769.659375. I am also picking up a control channel on 769.656250 but it is weaker and possibly a Ohio (Cleveland or MARC) signal.

Default PA State Troopers Shot in Poconos

For obvious reasons there was more activity last night than I ever heard. Talk group 37, sometimes referred to as "air 1". SP chopper refueling at WB/Scranton AP and picking up other troopers at other locations. Not much talk about the actual search.

I'm in Bucks county. I'm listening to the very strong local site Quakertown(BUCK40). The current control channel is 774.29375. The nearest site to you is probably Wilkes-Barre (LUZE01). It would not surprise me if they have a temporary site set up near the search area. I've seen pictures of van type vehicles with many antennas which could easily be a portable P25 or STARNet site. You might want to scan 700Mhz for a strong control channel. In any case only when a helicopter is searching is there anything to listen to. You can go many hours and not hear anything.

I have heard reports that there are some sort of wideband un-monitorable signals in the 160Mhz range assigned to the FBI and Customs and Border Patrol in the area.

@radio17
I have picked up lots of psp srt and atf freqs but all are scrambled. Actually right now I'm listening to the old psp tac channel with two troopers talking about the cost of houses up here, very funny stuff sometimes in their downtime. I'm only about 2-3 miles from the search area so I've been picking up lots of strong scrambled signals. I will certainly be scanning the 700 block when I get home this afternoon.
Just 700-800?
Thanks
Larry

by the way I could only find this on the fcc ULS License - Public Safety 700 MHZ Band-State License License - WPTZ795 - COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA

So they are doing another big search tonight, all over the news that there was a sighting again. Can hear the stress in the local pd voices.
I was thinking, I have a rc 651 digital but only have a whip style antennas for it, the big antenna outside is hooked up to the uniden. Do you think I could pick up anything using close call/signal stalker on the 651 just to get the frequencies?

Thanks again

Just an update
I have been listening to the wilkes-barre (luze01) overnight and today, was actually up at the doctors office around mt pocono and could see the helicopters.
Getting a very strong signal on 770.1687 talkgroup ID 63481. I can hear every once in a while clear voice, but seems to go to encryption after a few seconds.

I've been monitoring the WB site recently and heard a lot of activity on TGID 63481, but never anything encrypted. Decoding errors maybe? At about 25 miles from that site with a typical RSSI of 415, it's always intelligible (at least concerning reception and decoding, the individuals speaking can be a different story).

Is it possible you were hearing them say "cp" as in command post? The majority of activity I heard when listening was people calling "cp".

Aside from that TG, there isn't much activity on the site. The Air 1 TG (37) previously mentioned, as well as one or two others, are the only TGIDs I've had hits on so far.

@dhoffman83 A few days before the capture it sounded like encryption, lots weird underwater sounds. Then it would be fine a few mins later for a few seconds. The day before and the day of the capture it was very clear. I cant remember what the rssi was but I think it was around the same or a little higher. I could even see the helicopters while listening. The audio was about the same as the psp sert frequency which I think is encrypted. It was certainly weird as I could clearly hear the start of the search and then hearing that they had someone in custody.
I don't think it was cp, was def 3 letters.
I haven't been listening since the capture, back to county police/ems but do still do have the search key programmed.
