JIM THORPE - Carbon County took steps to alleviate problems associated with its microwave equipment vital to the county communication center operation.
County commissioners approved the purchase from Aviat Networks of Santa Clara, Calif., to install microwave equipment at the Bear Mountain Tower site at an expected cost of $88,627.91. The breakdown is $61,295.27 for equipment and $27,322.64 for labor, subject to Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage rates.
The purchase of the equipment will go through the Pennsylvania state contract for TuWay Radio Communications Equipment and Accessories, according to commissioner William O'Gurek
