MONROE COUNTY OFFICES TO CONDUCT EXERCISE TESTING COUNTY’S RESILIENCY IN AN EMERGENCY
STROUDSBURG, PA – On March 20, 2014, many Monroe County governmental departments and agencies will come together to test the Monroe County Continuity of Operations/ Continuity of Government (COOP/COG) plan through a table top exercise. This exercise will test how quickly and efficiently the departments can relocate and restore operations, should an emergency occur that renders the Courthouse, Administration Building or other Monroe County office buildings unsafe for operations for an extended period of time.
The Monroe County COOP/COG plan was initially developed in 2009 through the Northeast Pennsylvania Counter Terrorism Task Force. Monroe County was one of eight counties to have this type of plan developed at that time. This will be the second time since the development of the plan that Monroe County is exercising this plan, the first being in 2009. Both exercises were funded by the Northeast Pennsylvania Counter Terrorism Taskforce.
All media outlets are invited to attend the conclusion of the exercise, between 11-12pm on March 20, 2014. The exercise will be held at the Monroe County Public Safety Center, 100 Gypsum Road, Stroudsburg, Pa
