Correct. As someone else mentioned, make sure you enter all system frequencies, as an frequency can be the control channel.

air talk groups
A recent message from York County 911 has informed users that two new talk groups have been added for communication with aeromedical services when responding to York County. They are titles YC_AIR1 and YC_AIR2.
Despite the message referring to them as talk groups, I suspect they may be conventional channels, since it mentioned that subscriber radios won't have them -- they'll have to be patched to the Ops talk group. Also, as far as I know, the two air ambulance services that come to York County regularly have radios that can operate in P25 conventional mode only, not trunking capable.

Confirmed:
YC_air1 and 2 are TRUNKED talk groups..
Splat and Life Lion both have P25 modules on board and are programmed with the YC_air 1 and 2 talk groups..
A patch will be used to bring them on line until a reprogramming is done sometime in the future

Quick question: I run with a company in chester county, but am often driving through York County and will be working there soon. I have a radio shack PRO-25 direct entry scanner with hyperscan. I have delaware county 500 mhz frequencies programmed. I recently programmed all of York's new 500 mhz frequencies for west, south, central and fulton. When I am in York, I get a lot of clicking as would get from MDT transmission and no voice from remaining few frequencies not locked out. Anyone know of anything that might help?

York is a digital system and the Pro-25 is not a digital scanner. You will not be able to monitor the system.

Hosehead88: thanks. So the clicks are just data transmissions then. I assumed that because Delaware County was using a 500 mgz system and Chester County was using trunked 800 mhz and I could hear them well that I would be able to pick up York. I need to get a new hand held scanner trunk, hyperscan, digital and analog at least 200 channel and INEXPENSIVE. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as a digital trunking scanner that is inexpensive.

You could always try buying used . I bought both my Pro-96's used for about $200.00 each. Try looking on eBAY or even Pawn Shops in Md. I picked mine up in Hagerstown. Just use good judgement if you go the eBAY route .

I'm fairly certain that Chester County is soon switching to a digital system as well. Your investment in a digital scanner may be increased.

Yes, Chester County will be going P25 digital. An RFP was put out earlier this year or late last year for the system, but I have not seen anything officially awarded, yet.

Pretty active with Chester County and have not heard anything. Invested too much in current system - commissioners are not putting any more money into new systems or drastic system changes.

As I mentioned earlier, an RFP was already released for a new Chester County radio system. I don't know who got the award in 2012 (never saw it announced). I'll ask around to find out the status of the project, but there is a project in the works for a major upgrade to the Chester County system to make it a P25 compliant digital trunked system.
