In addition to the chase plane, it is (or I guess was now) always proceeded by weather scout plane that flies about 100 miles ahead looking for the smoothest flight path. I think it is an old DC-9 that NASA has outfitted with weather instrumentation.

Would anyone have pictures of water landing planes? I don't think I have seen any of those on this thread yet.

Default Nice...

Very nice photos....would love the opportunity to see a few different planes even if they are inside. We get a good variety just passing through our airport but not too many old ones.

As soon as I recover from this past weeks work schedule, I will have some more posted. Pulling stills off of 1 minute video shot of a Yak 6 taxiing in Plane Pull.

Indeed a true statement.

That museum has a number of "one and only" examples of planes in it's inventory. zob caught one of them in that top shot with the fuselage of the only remaining Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu sitting in the shadow of the wing of the Aichi M6A1 Seiran. Maybe one of these days they will put the wings back on it.

CapStar362 your right it is the engine for the Komet.

loumaag thanks for the id on the Kawasaki Ki-45 Toryu, I don't remember a plaque that had an identification. There are a number of "last surviving" types.

Some planes have no plaques and seem to be stored in the exhibition area, like this one. I have no idea what it is but in the second picture you can see the ribs which seems like a fabric covering. But, in the third picture the bottom of the wings appear to be wood (to me anyway).
