Default My shack/work area

I've been browsing the shack forum here and I've seen some pretty nice setups, so I figured I'd join in. Here's a few pics of my little space. It's kinda cluttered right now because I've been lazy and haven't worked on any 'projects' lately, so I've got a small to-do list waiting for me. Enjoy.

The radios on the desk are CDM1550's and MDC2000's. There's also a BCT15.

This is the radio 'enthusiast' desk

Radios in the boxes are for someone else, but the UHF AS-3 and the VHF XTS is mine.

...and this is the "great, another thing to fix" desk.

Curious about the Bearcat III..the front speaker is Black? I own five of these and the speakers grille are all white. I like the black style,,very sharp set up..How is the sensitivity of the cdm-1550s compared to the Motorola maxtracs? Thanks

Very nice! In spite of the criticism of slang that one member from Mississippi makes of the use of slang, I think your space is sweet, cool, and awesome. Very nicely laid out, clean, and organized.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

To answer a few questions..

Quote:

I 'custom-made' that radio... I had a draw full of III and IV parts and I liked the black-on-black better so that's what I used. As you can see, I did that twice. Eventually I'd like to try and sell the second on that's under the screens, lol... I don't need two.

The low band CDM is a little "too" sensitive. I get a lot of birdies on the 46MHz range and it really aggravates me. The front mount speaker audio isn't that great on a Low band CDM for some reason. Sounds a little tinny. I'm going to install an external speaker some time soon when I'm not sitting around the house drinking cold one's and smacking a tennis ball on the Wii. To answer your question, I liked my Low band Maxtrac better. Better receive and the front mount speaker was nice. No need for an external.

It took me nearly 7 years in radio land to get to where I am today. I went from Bearcat III's to XTS5000's. It takes a long time to move up the ladder. You'll get there some day and you'll blow me away. haha!

Thanks again for the kudos!

are you using the command plus connected to the mobile radio's?

if so are you using tone remote adaptor's?

i ask because i have a 12 channel command plus also that one day i am gonna rack mount and connect o my mobiles using tone remote adaptors, but i am not gonna use them to channel steer the radio i am gonna use them as a sort of local remote adaptor, i was just wondering.
