WOW! That is very nice.

What do you want to do with it... does it have an explicit purpose? For emergencies only or just something to take along with you?

Now that's a cool mobile / portable setup! I like hoe everything is packed neatly into one solid portable case.

Nice and clean... Just be careful if you intend to operate the equipment while still in the case. The transceiver and power inverter may run into some heat dispersion issues.

Thanks
Had not thought about the inverter as I never used it. The keyboard comes out of the case when using, exposing the transceiver which has a built in fan. It sits on rubber feet allowing good airflow. That stays very cool.

Really nice I can see how that would make things run a lot smoother in the field. Sure has to beat typing in a message on the keypad. Sure its just like sending a text but those buttons aren't nearly as easy as the phone. Good job.

A beautifully done setup.

That would have been an ideal setup for use during our recent and devastating bush fires (Black Saturday- Feb 7th 09')
In most affected rural areas there was no cell phone coverage and many radio repeaters were burnt out.
The only communication in and out was via simplex and portable repeater. Many lives were lost and entire townships destroyed.

Hams were helping the Red Cross with message handling, albeit via HF packet due to the distances required.

Seeing your setup has started the ball rolling for me to build my own portable station.
Disasters can happen anytime and anywhere. Many people were caught out unprepared in the latest incident.

Well done!

Regards, Commscanaus.

BTW- Where does the transceiver body hide? Does the fan have ventilation?

Thanks all. I am in process of building another for someone. Many have asked me where to find the foam and cases. Here is the one I just bought for the new project. They have many sizes.

I got this one 1510 Carry-On Case - Black - FAA Carry On Approved for Airlines from Pelican-Case.com

Do you frequently forget your callsign? The reason I ask this is because you have it plastered on everything with a cheap label maker.

No I dont. But durning events some of the equimpment gets borrowed at times. Its easier for it to find it's way back home.

But I got a offer on it here in RR I couldnt turn down so I sold it and using funds to build a new one.

What kind of antenna set-up do you use, and is it simple to pack along?
