Thumbs up Gray 2007 Honda Civic LX Coupe

They said it could not be done. Our very own FFPM571 proved those naysayers all wrong. That's right -- My radio installation was completed after eleven hours of work today by the artisan himself.

Radios:
Kenwood TM-D710A
Kenwood TM-D700A
Uniden BCD996T w/RH96 Remote Head

4 NMO mounts (one spare for "future use")
3-port Cigarette Lighter adapter
All power leads use Anderson Power Pole connectors
PowerWerx Automatic Power Switch (APO) for radios in trunk

I like how you routed the antenna coax.

Just curious.....I know the 700 and 710 both come with remote mount heads. Were you able to use the connection cables supplied or did you have to get another set? I really like the install. Good Job!

One we were able to use the stock cable. The other KB9E was able to make an extension. The red CAT5 is extension cables for the mics that were remote mounted on the side of the console under the 996

Default Thanks!

Thanks to all for the positive comments.

@FFPM571: You told me that I had to post the pictures that night!

@tmfok7: I used regular telephone cable and a standard keystone jack to extend the TM-D700A control head. The cable for the TM-D710A was *just* barely long enough.

I bought a surface mount 2-port keystone jack holder at Lowe's and mounted two RJ45 keystone jacks in it. We connected Cat5e cable to those keystone jacks, and ran the Cat5e to the radios for the microphone ports. That device is not pictured here, but if you friend me on Facebook (Log In | Facebook ) you'll be able to see the entire album of photos.

@W0JJK: Yes, that is a Motorola mic on the D700. I bought the mic on eBay for like $20 - someone custom wired the Moto mic to the D700 plug. I lose all of the features of the keypad mic, but the audio from the Moto mic just sounds *so* nice. I've gotten a lot of great reports from it.

I run IRLP node 4042 here in Carbondale, IL - I've got a local network problem right now that I'm working through so the node is down, but feel free to connect to my node, and I'll gladly give you some comparisons between the D710 and the D700 mic, as well as some handhelds and others if you want to hear the difference.

Cheers, all.

Oh, and the PowerWerx APO works great -- It actually kicked in this morning and later this afternoon when I left the radios on in the car. Great idea that device is.

A few more antennas and you will have as many as your dad's CVPI.

This seems like a nice install, especially for a Honda Civic. Think we can get a full shot of the car, because I am having trouble picturing this car with antennas on it. I do like!

I just had the pleasure of viewing this install in person. I must say it looks even better than the photographs.

Real nice work. Some say that under the package tray in the trunk gets too hot. Is that the case for you?

How are you handling the audio output? Externals somewhere?
