Default 2002 Chevy TrailBlazer Freelance Video Rig

Hello all I'm a freelance videographer in northern Colorado and this is my chase vehicle. I'm currently only running two scanners but hope to add more and a laptop mount.

I'm running a 2002 Chevy TrailBlazer with a Vortec 4200 4.2 liter inline 6. For scanners I'm using a Uniden BCD 396T hooked to a Maxrad 800 Mhz mag mount and a Uniden 760XLT on the dash hooked to a wide band mag mount. Now I've been asked this many times and don't worry the one on the dash isn't going anywhere, its held down with industrial strength velcro. For video equipment I use a Canon XL1 with a XLR mic shoe and a Bogen/Manfrotto 3046 with an A Image video head.

The 760XLT I have programmed for Boulder County Colorado Fire/EMS/Law, Weld County Fire Dispatch, State Air EMS Channels, Larimer County and Forest service, as well as Sky Warn.

The 396T I have the states P25 DTRS system which covers about 75% of the Fire/EMS/Law opperations in the state. In addition to that I have a few analog systems programmed.

As for additions to the car, I would like to switch out the stock radio for an aftermarket and a PSR-600 above it, hopefully there's enough space. I have been looking at a Jotto Desk Laptop mount but they are a little bit out of my price range for now.

now there's a guy that understands life... always have the fishing pole handy!
the setup looks nice, good stuff!
you can look into a mount for your handheld at mountguys.com they make a mount for handheld scanners that will keep the scanner up out of your cupholder and you can adjust the mount to keep it in site if you are driving and need to take a quick glance.

This is the one I'm currently using in my car:

Hey thanks. I did have a home built mount in my last car, I just havn't gotten around to making another. Lack of funds is another issue, but thats why I usually build my own, lack of space in the new one can be an issue too. I'll have to come up with something new, thanks for the suggestion.

I'm adding that site to my bookmarks, a lot of great mounts on there.

Old hand held car mount......
