Temporary Apartment Setup
I currently have 1 scanner in the other room loud enough to monitor from my corner of the apartment. The scanner pictured is a Realistic Pro-52 that has 4 bad crystals and luckily 4 good crystals that cover my area. This photo was taken with my cell phone due to being only camera accessible. Will take pics with regular digital camera once I can get access to one. This is only a temporary set-up. Looking to add a BCD-996XT and BCD-396XT in the future.

Isn't it great when you can still use a crystal scanner and receive what you want?
Awesome!

Wow, I remember that scanner That was my very 1st scanner/radio ever. My stepdad gave me that when I was about 8. He was on the PD and I loved listening to them back when they were on 32-36Mhz ?
I know the FD dispatch channel here would still work tone out / dispatcher.
One good thing about older crystal scanner is that they had better RX because it was a "real" reciever and tuned for each freq. They got a lot less interference.

another good reason for departments to not go encrypted. How many firemen, police officers, emt's and dispatchers you think came out of kids listening to the scanner when they were young and getting hooked.

For those looking for crystals, check ebay. Do a search of "scanner crystals." There's a seller who has a bunch of them for three bucks each. I was able to find several that I needed for my area.
