Great setup you've got there, did you do the LED mods yourself?

What an awesome setup!

An excellent mixture of old and new radio's.

That AOR8000 is great. Wish I had never sold mine. They go for good money nowadays if you can find one. Yours is that bit more special!
The electroline splitter looks like a very useful piece of equipment.

Regards, Commscanaus.

Thumbs up Very nice

Nice shack, great collection of radios!
I'm just curious as to why you added the switch on the back of the 92 for the LED mod, I just tied into the original LED circuit on mine when I put the yellow/orange LEDs in. It works just as the original design, tap the "LIT" button for about 10 seconds and press it and hold a few secs for constant on. I like the blue screen, maybe even more than my orange, I might have to do a re-do : anythings better than those dim factory green LEDs.

WOW ! That's one of the best shacks I've seen ! I take it you listen to the airbands regularly ? In your "pre-shack" link, that's a nice pic of the Blue Angels on your desktop, you take it ? They were here this past weeekend, they're awesome !!!

Could you post your experiences with the Electroline setup? I am curious how it performs compared to an antenna ran direct to the scanner bypassing the splitter. Not asking for dB loss, just your real world experience.

Congrats on a shack well done!

I see your shack has to share the kitchen. Do you ever get splatter from the sink?

CHEERS!

im glad you guys like!

1. Yes, i did the light mods myself. I used to own 1 of each of the 3 pro92 models out. i first did it to an A model, then this one, then the B model using different colors. I never knew you could use the original light button as a way to keep the light on instead of my switch. Now i know.
The LED's were purchased at radio shack, way back when, so i dont know if they are still available. I followed instructions via a long-lost website back in 98'-99'.
I applied the theory to the AR8000 and it worked!YAY!
btw- the pictures are a little deceiving in the way the collors came out. the LED's are actually white- i would say somewhere in the 6000kelvin range(compared to headlights on a car). I cant remeber the exact color but i know the package said "white" somewhere on it.

2. I do love to listen to the airbands! Living this close to TRAVIS AFB (11miles in sight of tower)makes things enjoyable. Planes fly over all day-everyday!
I did take that picture of the Blue Angels @ Mather Airfield in march of 2008. Ive seen the "Blues" every year since 1979(except 2001-cancelled from 9/11). this year im going to their Redding, San Diego, and San Francisco shows-camera in hand. More pix to follow!

3. My "real world" experience with the Electroline?...I LOVE IT!!!
I cant compare it to anything else but regular cable splitters that you can buy from Fry's or Home Depot, as thats the only other splitters ive used--and those things suck. Ive never had the pleasure of handling one, but im sure the Stridsburg units are as good, if not better, and I really wanted one, but for the price of the Electroline,($20-$80 on ebay) you cant go wrong.
I hooked up the antenna straight to my bct15 and tuned it to the NOAA weather stations in my area. Using Freescan's virtual radio, you can read the signal given in number form. Switching back and forth between the Electroline and straight coax, NONE of the ports showed ANY loss with the 5 NOAA stations that i can hear, even with other radios connected scanning other or similar frequencies. I was/am extremely happy with it. From my location, I can hear planes checking in with Fallon Naval Air Station tower (apprx.200+ miles)clearly, as well as Lemoore Naval Air Station(175miles). These were previously not possible before-and now it can be done-x8!!!

4. Ive never gotten any splash form the sink being so close to my desk.
however, there are 2 bonuses:
A: Convenient ground source(copper water pipes)
B: the kitchen/stove/fridge is RIGHT THERE!

Default Nice

Even with the fine collection of radios you keep it super clean. Even under the desk looks good.
Very Impressive.

Nice Work!

Is that antenna custom made or is that a commercially available antenna? If so what is the make/model?

Thanks for the comments guys.

the antenna is this:
Diamond® Antenna ~ D130J Super Discone Antenna
i got mine for my birthday from Ham Radio Outlet w/ 50' of 9913 coax.

the Splitter is this:
Electroline, Micro Node, Mini Node, DOCSIS Transponder Drop Amp, Adressable Tap, Clearpath
I got this on ebay for $12 including shipping because it didnt come with the charger. I had an old 15v charger laying around so i used that.
