Default Ford F150 Install

This is my BCD396XT Install with an 800MHz Motorola NMO antenna on the roof. I know the cup holder is not the best place for the scanner but it works for me. If anyone has any ideas feel free to add. The last pic is my 996T that I have next to my desk at home, again nothing fancy but it works.

Plain and simple. What more can you ask for!

Looks like you have room on the roof for more antennas, any futher plans? How well does the 1/4 wave work for you? Nice and tidy!

No major plans ahead, might try to find an external speaker, the one that the scanner has just isn't loud enough. The antenna works great, couldn't ask for anything better.

I use basically the same setup in the commuter car. I have a trunk-lip NMO mount with a Comtelco All-Band Low-Profile from Scannermaster.com and the 396T fits perfectly between the passenger seat and the handbrake. Simple and easy. The only things I would suggest are a case for the scanner and a 90 degree BNC to BNC to take some strain off the scanner.

Looks good...

Are you scanning digital 800 systems with that antenna?

I have same truck, even same interior colors & sunroof. Any issues with the sunroof & NMO mount or cables? Did you drop the headliner all the way down? Where did you bring the antenna wire out of into the cabin? Any pictures of the install in progress available??

Thanks!

Yes I scan digital 800 with that antenna. No issues with the sunroof or mount, the sunroof has plenty of room to open and clear the mount. I only dropped the driver side rear of the headliner, just enough to see how it would affect the sunroof. I routed the cable down the driver side b-pillar, under the carpet to the bottom of the center console then drilled a small hole in the center console and ran the cable through there. Sorry no install pics.

Just showing how the cable is routed through the center console.

Not sure if you thought about it, but running an audio cable maybe from the scanner to your AUX port of your stereo or having an external speaker mounted somewhere near your center console or under the dash and then secure your scanner inside the console so you don't have to worry about it taking up your cup holder.

I understand you probably have it there so you can view what channel the traffic is coming from, but if you don't do that, then try the audio cable. Looks extremely professional.
