2008+ Kenworth truck
This is how we make our money. We operate a 2008 T800 Kenworth, 2009 Kenworth T660, and have a new 2010 T660 waiting for delivery. In each truck we have installed a Motorola CM300 UHF business-band radio, Cobra 25 CB, Uniden scanner and Motorola M800 phone.

Saweeeeet..I plan on putting my scanner in the truck, been off the road for years, just drive local now hauling material for a concrete company. Might want to look at the new Cobra 29 with BlueTooth. Love that thing, especially with more and more states requiring hands free device. The blue tooth works very well, cuts out the CB when in a call, one button operation uses the CB mic to talk, don't have to key the mic, it switches it to an open mic. Problem is I need to find a system to hot swap my scanner between my home, car and truck (truck is a 2008 Freightliner columbia daycab).

Where'd you put the rest of the M800? I have a couple of them in bagphone configuration that really should be brought out of the bags and mounted. One's in a Ford E-series cutaway (ambulance style cube van) and the other is in a 2009 Kenworth T370. If you look at the bottom pics on that link I just supplied, our dash is laid out somewhat differently due to the fire truck configuration. I am considering a RAM Mount laptop tray, which uses the bolts of the passenger seat as the base.. and I suspect there might be room under the seat for the phone guts. (The black "doghouse" in the last pic is already full of radio and electrical gear.)

These are actually the "permanent mount" versions of the M800. I have a dealer here locally that made the brackets and did the install, there is a small junction box under the dash for pwr, ant, mic connections. I asked about disassembling a bag phone version, and they said they had tried it and it was a major hassle. Not as simple as the old bag phones we used to run. cciwholesale.com can get both versions. (Concept Cellular International). I found there site while looking for parts for the M800 phone. I've had my dealer install the phones in all my new trucks and they work well.

Well state your source, I am going by the website I just posted, they didn't say anything about what you just said. Not saying it is not true, don't get your panties in a bunch...just would like to see the actual law, what people think and what actually is, are often two different things.
Important to understand, that was the Florida Atty Generals opinion, not law. According to the law it did not specify installation, which tells me it is not illegal to have it mounted or in the vehicle. That may change.

1. What is the legality of scanners or radio equipment in Florida?
The most recent law was published in 2005 and applies only to equipment in motor vehicles. This law states that unless your vehicle is an official “Emergency Vehicle”, you are a Ham Radio operator, or member of the news media, you may not “install or transport […] any frequency modulation radio receiving equipment so adjusted or tuned as to receive messages or signals on frequencies assigned […] to police or law enforcement officers or fire rescue personnel.”
In plain English this means that unless you meet the above criteria, you CAN NOT legally have a radio or scanner that receives Law Enforcement or Fire Rescue frequencies in your vehicle. Whether or not an officer is knowledgeable of this law and/or decides to enforce it or if you think can get away with it does not matter. The law is the law!
Source: Florida Scanner Law Go to the Florida forum, check the "welcome" thread. BTY this is not worth "getting my panties in a bunch" but it sure seems like it's getting to you, lol.

Thank you, never thought to look there. No it's not getting to me, but I do go to Florida every few years to visit family, guess I'll have to leave my scanner at home or get a license. Hadn't been on the road or in Florida since they changed that law. Would have be easier to just post this from the Florida forum

From what i understand they are illegal in certain states if you don't posses a license for Am radio. we only run KS, NE and CO, so as far as I know we're ok.

Nice Install
That install looks very nice and I like the way you mounted your radios so when you sell the truck there are not a lot of holes and damage to reduce the resell value.

Thanks,
When the phone is removed no holes will be visible, and the cubby that the UHF is mounted in could easily be replaced with a new one. I like to have things installed that way as well, I wouldn't want to buy a vehicle with holes all over the dash myself. Thanks for the compliments
