Default My Shack

Howdy All

My shack is a "in progress shack..."

The Australian Dollar has been very good this year and allowed me to upgrade some radios at great prices

for a large image

http://newcastlescan.com/images/latest%20014.JPG

I am an amateur, run POGSAG, live radio reference feed., monitor local with pro96com p25 M trunk, and adsb.

I have a few analog scanners spare these days so unless asked i wont go into a full catalog
but of you want to know i will list the gear

but I love scanning and radio!

Cheers

Very nice collection of Radios you have there! What software do you have running on your computers?

Helluva collection, sir!

A little cramped for my taste, but VERY usable - NO space wasted. Nice!

What is Planeplotter and how much is it? What do you need to use it? What about basestation? What kind of software is that?

Basestation is the interface program for kinetics SBS-1er ADS-B receiver and planeplotter is a mapping program which plots planes from the SBS-1er(in simple terms)..

I used a 3d plotter, google earth, and base station to make a video of a real plane landing on the airstrip at our local airport

you can view the result here

Very nice!!

Hopefully the US Dollar will do very well in the coming year and I can upgrade some of my equipment the way you did.

And of course having R2D2 watching over everything just makes an awesome set-up even better.

Well, that explains why Australia sits at the bottom of the globe - it's the weight of all that equipment!

Ive been scanner man for over 20years but this setup has been evolving for 10 years

heres a shot from 90' around 95/96 I think

I was already equipped with computer logging.... and kept the mouse problem under control too

I recall a police chase on that scanner, when the cars were in my suburb and I heard the siren, and they came past my house.... at a low speed of about 40kph...

and heres a shot around 2001

Cheers
Mike

Default Hats off to you sir!

Hey Mike, you have a terrific looking site and set-up. And I gotta agree with RadioDaze about why you Aussies live down-under; All that weight sunk you all!
Thanks for sharing the JPGs with us.
BTW, up there in your location stat; You have “Maryland NSW Australia”. The NSW, does that stand for where you are in Maryland, like North-SouthWest? LOL (I just could not resist being a dumba#$)!!!
Have fun and enjoy your equipment sir.

I purchased the hand made desk from fellow scanner/comms hobbyist, it was in a circular configuration, in four pieces, with 28 powerpoints. it was large and sadly had to be "let go" for the latest slim version (from round to up and down!

Im always looking for a newer desk.. with more space LOL as i have a 9 metre tower laying in the yard and stack of antennas under the house waiting to go up to feed more radios

Cheers
Mike

Looks great! That's a lot of radios in a small space but it looks neat.
