The one Blake has is a stainless WARN that I powder coated black for my Tahoe but a GoRhino Defender came along for a great price, so I went with that. Guess I need to snap some pics... man I'm getting lazy.

Cool!!!
I'm not sure if you've bought from them, but:
Emergency Vehicle Equipment, Amber Warning Lights & Tactical Gear - MHQ (MHQ equipment)
is pretty cool!

Use chrome! You'll never switch back!!!
I'm on chrome now, and i use it 95% of the time!! It's also faster!!
The only thing that bugs me is that it's annoying to transfer over favorites

Get Safari from Apple. It's rated #1 in the ACID3 tests for browsers. I have used everything from IE, to Netscape, Firefox, Chrome and Safari and I recommend Safari by far. Unfortunately some sites only work with IE so you'll need that as a backup.
Oh - BEAUTIFUL VEHICLE! Good luck with your install! Looks like you've got the right persons backing your tasks on here with their support! I'm not a fan of the Bearcat scanner, I'd use a GRE PSR-600 - so much simpler to operate (in my opinion of course).

My faceplate just got here! Not sure if the speaker will stay where it is. Road trip to Littlerock this weekend so we will see how it is there. It's not permanently wired yet. Using the cig plug and telescoping antenna that came with it for now.
Sorry for the crummy pics.

I wouldn't, hitting your leg will get annoying.....
Is there enough room between the front of the console and the radio/ thermostat/ cig plug panel?

There isn't enough room in front of the console. It did fine on the way into work today. It didn't hit my leg on the way in but that was only 30 min so could be an issue on longer trips. I am not a terribly big person so. I will see how it does on our trip out of town this weekend. I have two other options I am thinking of if this does prove to be an issue. I can adjust the console over a few inchs to the other side still. My other option is to mount it to the under side of the radio/AC-Heat/Cig plug bezel. Probably will try under the bezel first since I like the position of the console.
Anyone have recommendations for a power inverter? I just need one to run a laptop and maybe other small items.

Inverter? I use mainly Walmart, scanner-master, radioshack, uniden, cobra, and midland.....
Well, i like:
Get this XOvision car power converter at Walmart.com. Save money. Live better.

How about installing the speaker inside the console? I have seen a couple installs done like that and you could still hear the sound pretty good.

We made it to Littlerock. I actually like the speaker where it is. No matter how I sat it was not in the way. For now it will stay.
As far as listening, it was dead most of the time once I got away from the Memphis area and then about 30 miles out of Littlerock I started to pick up regular traffic again. I picked up hwy patrol a couple of times but not much.

That is what I would expect if you were on I40 going to Little Rock. I am sorry if this offends anyone but at least the parts of Arkansas I have been in (I40 from Memphis to Little Rock and then I30 to Texarkansa) seems to be nothing, dead and a very boring drive.

Not sure of your area but I can tell you 2m/440 is dead through that area. I make the trip 2 times a year for the last 3 years and can count on one and a half hands how many times I have been able to make contact. I hope to have a mobile HF rig in my Jeep for this next trip and will monitor 146.52 on the dual band rig.

I made a trip over to Little Rock this weekend. I was noticed when I got back to the Memphis area and still have my Little Rock stations on I was still picking them up. Any reason why I could still pick up that far that anyone could think of?
On another note I managed 17.5 MPG at 75-85 MPH. While I am happy with it since it is a full size SUV but I know more can be pulled out of it. I ordered an Edge Evolution programmer and dash pod. I have read some get 20-22 mpg after adding the programmer. It can be set for economy, towing and power. It will change how hard and when the transmission shifts. In power mode you have to run 93 but gains of up to 40HP and 40 lbs ft tq could be seen stock. I will be running economy mode though I will run a tank or two in power mode.. hopefully I don't get hooked on it and not want to let it go!

Pulaski, yeah. That's strange...I admit I haven't tried to monitor them from home (hour and a half away) but maybe their system is statewide? I see they aren't in the AWIN system but I guess they could have sites outside PulCo or something. Maybe someone else will chime in (or you can post up in the Arkansas threads and see if someone knows if you're interested).
