Default 2011 F-350 Mobile Office

The truck in my previous My 2008 F-350 Mobile Office install photos is no more. I developed some major engine issues (and has since gone to aution) and has been replaced by a 2011 version (Gas not Diesel this time) and today I installed my FT-8800r and TK-760h. The antennas (Elevated feed 800MHz and Vhf) were installed by who ever does our companies vehicals, I replaced the PCTEL 1/2wave with my Larsen NMO2/70 (I asked the installer to put the 'VHF' antenna in the middle of the roof. LoL). As soon as i took delivery of the truck Iswapped the 1/2wave with the dual band. At some point I will get a 'L' (but not an L cause the hood seam is horizontal) for the commercial radio. The Motorola M800 is the same as in the other thread, and I liked the 8800 faceplate there so much I kept it there in this truck too. The APRS mess is an OT3m, RF is a VX-170 that is attached to the 1/4wave magmount on the driverside rear of the roof. GPS is provided by the Garmin Nuvi 350. The mess needs to be cleaned up at some point but i first need to figure cabling for power. The serial cable goes under the drivers seat and up and over the door in the mounding. The external speaker cable goes up the back passenger door moulding with all extra cable hidden in the moulding.

More Photos. I have also included the antennas cause I know I will get asked. Drill baby Drill!!!!!!!!

Some will noticed that I soldered the power leads together, I fused both with a common set of fuses, as I will NEVER be transmitting on both mobile radios at the same time.

Nice setup ... I like the speaker placement. Looks like you did lots of work with your APRS setup and install of your radios.

APRS needs TLC, I do not like the mess of 12v cig. Plugs. And no the mirror stays put. Due to a quad deck w/ headache rack the rearview mirror is almost useless.

Default Blue Sea Fuse Block

I have been using them in my company pick up trucks over the last couple years. The one I use is part number 5025 ST blade fuse block. I tried to upload a link but the file was too large. I get mine from Binnacle Marine in Halifax. They have an online store for both Canada and the US.

Top end, must be super religous on oil. 150hr OR 5000km nothing less. Lots of issues with an aftermarket water pre-heater as well, although it was in the truck when I got it. I would never get another Ford Diesel again

Nice, only problem is that the Nuvi is 5v, and I like having filtered power to the yaesu and I donot have the patience to make a 12v-5v adapter.

That's unfortunate I was looking into a 250 or 350 with the 6.4 in it. The 6.0 was a disaster. Now that has me questioning fords. My Explorer is got 97 thousand miles with 1 transmission at 75k and a bunch of other problems.

If you are looking at diesel, go with Dodge.

Sorry but...go with anything but Ford. lol (couldn't resist but basing that on experiences of various people I know)


I will say, though...I like this setup because it's a "real world" setup. That's not to say that some of the awesome setups on here aren't, but what I mean is this is a more realistic setup for the average person. Plus it shows it's a truck that is used as a work truck, etc. Nice to see these types of setups - it takes all kinds: some have very neat installs with every wire hidden, others don't. And they all work dependent upon the needs, wants, and desires of the owner.

Wow! Thankyou 03msc. My aim was for a daily work driver where my work is primary, and radios were secondary. I tried to make the install clean, and functional. Not much room to add radios with out modifying the interior. This is a company truck and as such I wanted to minimize the holes in the panels. The radios (I own both) can come out with the removal of 4 screws and this includes the 2 screws for the external speaker.
