Default *UPDATED* 2007 Silverado Mobile Shack

Hello all. My original setup can be found here:

2007 Silverado "Zombie Hunter"

I finally decided that I needed a real console. At first I wanted to buy one, but then I looked at the prices on some of the leading consoles out there and decided that I could build one at a fraction of the price.

I initially wanted to build the console out of MDF, but finally decided on 3/4" and 1/2" Birch Plywood.

I started first by ripping my setup and taking the dash apart, then moved to the wood and started to lay out a design. I have attached some images up to the stopping point that I am at now, I am currently waiting on a bunch of items from ebay to get here:

Troy Face Plates for TK-840, Cobra 29 LTD, and BCT 8
Mag-light Holder Clips
Carling Switches
Carpet (to cover the console)
External Speakers
PA Speaker
PA Amplifier
6 Pin Mic for TK-840
Map Light
And a bunch of other random items.

Let me know what you think, and there will be more updates on the way! Thanks.

Did some more mocking up...

Got the switches in, and since no one makes a 2" 6 switch panel I fabbed one out of aluminum flat.

Almost makes me wish I had kept my Silverado. But mine was a standard transmission so a console would have presented other problems.

(The 11 MPG also presented a problem so I'm not too unhappy about swapping the thing off.)

Beautiful. The only addition I would make would be to paint the screws black. Cool cigarette storage area too. Great job.

Looks great. One question though, does the faceplates mount onto rails or screw directly into the wood?

Search for Daystar switches on Amazon. I find they had the best prices. I just got two for my truck.
