Life Care EMS
Many of you that have followed my 2011 Tahoe PPV forum requested a separate thread for my Ambulance buildout, here we go!
You need an ambulance:
And a state license to operate an ambulance:
And you stick the license on the ambulance:
But most of you really don't care about the legal-eeeez so let's see some radios! How about my fave the Kenwood 90 series. TK-790 / 890 Dual Head Dual Band:
Then get to work on the new radio system:

The front console had been recently redone my McCoy / Miller but the radio stuff looked a little shabby:
So I cut a piece of aluminum to fit:
And check the fit:
Cut to fit the control head:
And the front controller looks MUCH better:

The hardest part of all was locating the RF Decks and getting the control / power / antenna wires to the right place the way I wanted it done:
Yes that's a bedpan in the bottom cabinet, this IS an AMBULANCE! Front console is in the background.

BTW Regular dispatch comms will be via UHF Digital Hytera. I can't afford the fancy Moto-Bat-Wing stuff as of yet but the Hytera has a great feature set and the dispatch software package is GREAT!

Lol, I am going to put in a call just so I can ride in it! I left MPD in June to be a stay at home dad. I got a new rig coming. I sold my Lexus today and went a test drove a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I should have it Friday. Install coming. Planning to install my ToughBook with the GPS I got from you for Nav, 996XT, and my HAM gear when I get it. First day of HAM class tomorrow.

Lmao, yea.. I plan to keep this one a bit. I plan to set it up to do some expo type camping/travel with the daughter and wife (if I can get the wife to go) and travel in. It was hard to fit all of our stuff in the Lexus.

Kieth are you going into business for yourself or are you building this for your employer? I can't wait to see the out come on this project, as your PPV is superb.

It's a Marquette, I think they were "absorbed" by McCoy / Miller.

We have one ambulance on the ground permitted licensed and rolling, one clear of the paint shop and due in next week. We will stock it and install the radios then have the state inspect it, so LC-101 should be operational by Dec 1st. A third one is on order but unknown when it will be here.

Cool! Congrats!
Not to sound completely dumb but what inspired you to begin your own ambulance service? And how does that work as far as getting calls, etc.? Do people have to specifically ask for your service to go to a wreck, for example? Or do you service a particular area?
In the county in which I live, which has a population of about 38,000, there is one ambulance service. Same for most of the surrounding counties. Guess I'm just curious how to determine the need and then get the business.
Build looks good! Will be following this thread in addition to the other I was already following.

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; U; Android 4.0.4; en-us; DROID RAZR Build/6.7.2-180_DHD-16_M4-31) AppleWebKit/534.30 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/4.0 Mobile Safari/534.30)
I thought at one point in time Tennessee had a regulation requiring ambulances to be the standard KKK color spec of white with orange stripes? Is that still required or can it be waivered out?
