My 396T sits just right for view and sound. Bracket is from Pro Clip USA.

Very nicely done, Theo....and thanks for sharing with us. I'm a big fan of the 396T also.

I would get a 90 degree BNC plug and point it backwards but other than that looks great!

for an even neater look. I just bought a three pack from a seller on eBay for $9.95 with free shipping. They come in the original package and retail for 6 bucks apiece, so that's a pretty good deal, I believe. I'll be using one of them on my 396T as soon as I get it back from Uniden Repair.

Can you show the clip piece that the scanner is attached to? Thanks.

Try the RF Connection in Gaithersburg MD. Very helpful, takes credit cards and phone orders. If anyone has an SMA right angle connector he does. Also lets you select between cheap foreign connectors and the much better US-made ones.

I get pretty good reception with this same antenna but it sure whistles at around 45+mph. Only drawback.

Same clip I use in my Toyota Yaris but with a different mount. Had a 396XT a few years ago with this setup but never was comfortable with the scanner just "sitting" in the groove of that style clip. Too much movement. It's the only reason I use a GRE or Radio Shack scanner with this setup. The old fashioned belt clip fits much more secure. If it works for you, that's all that counts!
