Thanks! After drooling over my computer screen for years over this rig, I finally saved enough pennies to be able to get one! The features on this thing are unbelieveable! I have a small back of the set antenna for now because there is no way, I will be transmitting on any band anytime soon. Too many features and menus to learn first. I don't want any "oops" type of issues! I guess I'm going to HAVE to read the manual on this one first, darn it! LOL...
P.S. Im using a Rigrunner 4012 with an Alinco DM-330MV 32Amp power supply!

That is the understatement of the year brother! I haven't been this excited about a radio in years!
In my opinion, after spending some serious time going over the manual, this is about as close as a do-it-all radio as you're gonna get for the money! Again, keeping in mind it's a Ham transceiver not a digital trunking radio, scanner, etc... But man, does this radio have features! I'm ashamed to say that I haven't even looked at my scanning equipment since I got this rig. I think I'm in love, again!

My Little Shack!
Manny, how many scanners can you listen to at one time?
With me I can do three at max, even then, I have to have the speakers spaced well apart to follow what's going on, if there is a big incident.
Congrats on your new "baby" (named Icom!).

It is an ability that develops with years of experience dealing with multiple scanners. I wish I could explain it but I can't! All I know is that when the poop hits the fan, I turn on the scanners and go to the action. When the Newtown school shootings happened, having multiple scanners really made the difference. I hope never to have to hear anything like that again live, but the truth is, in the sick world we live in, I probably will hear it again. Also, most of the time I don't run them all at once! My way of monitoring may be the reason why I don't go nuts. The 3 BCT15X scanners are all clones of each other. The same goes for the 2 996XTs. That being said, I may have one 15X doing civil / milair, another doing ERS, and another either off or parked on my town volunteer FD / EMS depts. which are toned out as needed! The 996XTs are strictly for monitoring the State Police digital system and most of the time one scans and the other is parked on the troop that covers our local area. Seems like a lot of confusing stuff but like I said, after a few years of doing this, it's like second nature now! How the IC-7000 will fit in with all the other toys, remains to be seen. The extended receive covers the 30-50, 100, 400 mhz public service bands as well as the Ham bands so the possibilities are endless!
