Default Follow-Up

The console is Jotto Desk.

The 996XT protrudes for two main reason...(1) the viewing angle of the 996XT was extremely difficult with the standard console and face plate and the armrest almost cutoff the viewing angle...(2) the ability to reach and press buttons and knobs was difficult with the armrest in the way.

The mounting bracket under the faceplate of the console was drilled to support a backward facing viewing angle of the 996XT, that also necessitated that the height of the cutout be expanded to fit the sine of the new angle dimension.

When the radio faceplate was in the forward or middle of the console there was not enough depth underneath to accommodate fitting. The depth of the cup holder plus another inch is about all the space there is

Can you provide me the part numbers of your setup. I want to do the same setup with my 996XT or next Uniden release and my HomePatrol. What is the size of the center cover plate? Looks awesome.

Thanks to your post I now have all my parts on order from SWPS.COM to setup my Tahoe. They had the best prices and I should have it in 2 - 3 weeks. I can't wait. For now I plan on installing my 996XT and I was going to install the HP-1 like you ham remote head but seeing the BCD536HP is coming out in January, I will swap it with the XT and hook up a GPS.
Thanks for sharing.

I think the faceplate for the BC996 would be Jotto part # 425-6297. I just used that same model to mount the PRO-2055, PRO-197 and a Bearcat 980 CB into a Troy 14" console. (Troy & Jotto faceplates and rack screws are interchangeable)

Troy also sells faceplates for several Yaesu ham radios including the FT-1500 and the FT-817 which would fit in a Jotto console. (I have both radios, but were able to mount them without buying faceplates for them)

BTW, there is a guy (jeffrey4583) selling used Troy consoles on Ebay for about $50 on the average. I bought two of the model CC-06 (14"). Not appropriate for the Yukon AFAIK, but fantastic for my minivan with bucket seats and no floor shift. He told me he bought around 50 of them. Most of what he sent me actually looked better than what was in the photos.

SWPS.com does appear to be the best vendor by far. That's where I bought my faceplates & screws. They were shipped to me straight from Jotto much quicker than promised.

Great looking setup in your Yukon!
