Thought I would get these up for you to see. I spent about 4 hours Saturday, just running the cable for the antenna. The antenna is a Larsen Tri-Band, the scanner is a pro96 My wife got me a GRE PSR-500, so I can listen inside the house. Hope you like my setup.

Looks good. Now if we could all just find a place to buy the nmo/coax with a BNC connector, instead of having to spend the 5.50 for PL-259 to BNC adapter. I just did a similar install on my Dodge Dakota last night. Toughest part was finding a good place to send the coax through the firewall.

Good job!

Good looking install.

I have an 06 double cab that I just finished doing pretty much the same thing to. I am using the Maxrad NMO mount and a Maxrad BMAXScan 1000 antenna. That cable came with the BNC connector already attached.

I am using a PSR-600 for my mobile rig. It is mounted down in that pocket in front of the cup holders in front of the shifter. It fits perfectly in there. Can't put big bottles in the cup holders but I never did anyway.

I just ran the power and coax through the rubber grommet that the hood release latch goes through. Works great and no worries.

I got the NMO base and hood mount from www.theantennafarm.com

I'll post some pix when I get a chance.

That's one of the antennas I use on my van. I hook it to my PRO-97 or PRO-2055, whichever I happen to have with me at the time. That is a slick setup. I use a PanaVise ClipCaddy #777 to hold my radio, those squeeze grip holders wear out quickly. I have seen some nice hand helds turn into trash because they fall out of that type.

I like the setup. How does that Larsen perfom on 800Mhz? I have a Larsen Mag moung that does poor on that freq and I'm looking for another antenna. Good Job!

That is exactly how I plan on setting mine up once the weather gets a little more nice and I have the time.

I have asked on the boards and believe I have all the part numbers I need etc. I plan on mounting the same antenna the same way you have yours.

Could you fill me in on the part numbers for the mount and cable you are using? (just to be sure)

Also, its been asked, but how do you like the antenna overall and what bands do you frequently monitor using this set-up?

Thanks

The scanner mount is from mountguys.com I got the nmo connector from antennawarehouse.com I can not remember who I bought the antenna from. The mount for the antenna I made myself.

I mostly scan 800 mhz Jacksonville Florida is a digital system and it seems to do well. Also vhf and uhf from surronding counties and it does an okay job. All and all I think I am happy with the antenna

Would you be so kind as to post a model # or something. I just out thier site and the scanner mounts they have shown doesn't look like the one in the photo. It looks like the one in the photo would offer more stability than the one's currently shown on the website. The one I currently have is very similar to the one on the site, and its on its way out. It just wasn't strong enough to keep my scanner in place.

Thanks

My NMO-150/450/800 works well on the mag mount. One day it will have a permanent mount. If you have it roof mounted, that's the best place to put it.

The mag mount I have been using for the scanner is an old Larsen 2m ...works ok on the other frequencies ...just poorly on 800Mhz. I just ordered one that Ron sugested from the URL he provided ...worth a try and the price is right. He has a nice setup!!
