It's an emotional night for all of us, indeed.

Instead of watching the political TV coverage full time this evening, I watched three back to back episodes of The Big Bang Theory until 11:00PM. Only after some laughs, did I turn to the political coverage!

Hey All,

Maybe it's time to put this particular thread to rest. Just a suggestion.

It's over and time to move on, perhaps to other threads in the Tavern where we can have fun, but with new and even specific topics.

Lot's of great arguments and counter arguments have taken place here, but maybe it's time to give Rob's blood pressure some time to recover and rest!

I'll be moving along myself now and just concentrate on having some fun elsewhere in the RR forums section.

Thanks to Rob, N1RGR for getting this going and keeping it going right up to the concession/acceptance speeches!

I live in WI. so here is how I see it as a conservative. To say that I was surprised and upset would indeed be an understatement. To elect a guy like Ron Johnson in 2010 and the Scott Walker story is one of great pride and inspiration for the GOP for a generation and then throw that away by giving to it Obama and a flake like Tammy Baldwin flies in the face of logic. I watched FOX NEWS and I liked how they broke the States down into red and blue counties and it looked like Romney would take FL. And OH. at first for sure so that’s what baffled me. Nobody ever said that in the world of politics that you would not have devastating defeats along with great victories. If Richard Nixon was alive today he would have echoed that as well. America will survive since we have had much darker days in our history.
Yes that woman who wanted her free phone will probably get another one but the rest of us will work toward 2014 midterms to try to offset some of Obama’s agenda.

State failed to get the whole picture, underestimated the "location" , and neglected numerous request for additional/upgraded security. In general, in my opinion - they neglected subordinate employees as well as their personal well being and security OVERALL. Hillary Clinton took responsibility for the blunder, as she should have.

"Part" of establishing security...overseas as an example - is a threat and target assessment. Target vulnerabilitys and ectetra. Intel and knowledge of the local area - I.E = Gangs / Terrorist groups, as well as cultural, political, economic, and military assessments.

I guess you believe in micromanagement.

Even without Florida the results will hardly change.

Obama 303 electoral votes compared to Romney 206, that's almost 100 electoral vote difference.
Obama 60481241 popular votes compared to Romney's 57678067 popular votes, that's about a 2.8 million vote difference.
Looks like the fascist Republican Taliban Tea Party literally got kicked to the curb. LOL

Gloating is ugly. It's time to stop name calling and let people get back to normal. A lot of the right wingers here have called liberals some pretty ugly names, but it's not any better when you do it.

The election results are hardly a mandate, but I think it's a clear enough message that ultra conservatism is not appealing to a majority of the voters.

Despite the seemingly conciliatory tone from Obama and Speaker Bonehead, neither appears ready for compromise. Political ideologies are as unbending as religious differences - and just as foolish and self-defeating. Nothing has changed. The lame duck Congress will still do nothing and the new session will just continue the gridlock. Sooner or later, someone will have to blink or our once glorious nation will be flushed down the crapper. Damned shame that reality has not come to rest within sight of the denizens inside the beltway.

People voted for more of the same so more of the same is what we got. Surprise!

All the rainbows in the sky
Start to weep, then say goodbye.
You won't be seeing rainbows any more,
Setting suns before they fall, echo to you that's all that's all.
But you'll see lonely sunsets after all.
It's over, It's over, It's over It's over.

Crawl back to your room and cry,
I see the mist in your eyes.

N1RGR,

Please start a 'Election 2014' thread so these liberal moron's quit whining about the fact we'll have 4 more years of the same old politics. Did they really think that anything would change? I'll continue to 'pray' that God is willing to keep the 'fight for the right' alive. We will never give in to socialism.

Well, at least we won't have to see the name Gary Who until 2016.

Election 2012 isn't over till we get the final vote count from Florida!

Quote:
The vote count in what one official dubbed Florida's "perfect storm" election was still under way on Thursday.

The glacially slow vote count in Florida has already made it the brunt of jokes on late night television and conjured up ugly memories of the situation 12 years ago, when Florida was the cause of electoral gridlock.
