High level Al-Qaeda Operative caught in Jordan
U.S. officials: Bin Laden spokesman caught in Jordan
Quote:
Rep. Peter King credited the CIA and FBI with catching Sulaiman Abu Ghaith in Jordan within the last week. He said the capture was confirmed to him by U.S. law enforcement officials.
King, a Republican, said Ghaith took part in the Sept. 11, 2001, plot against the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
"Definitely, one by one, we are getting the top echelons of al-Qaeda," King said Thursday. "I give the (Obama) administration credit for this: it's steady and it's unrelenting and it's very successful."
|
Countdown until Rep King is ostracized by the Tea Party and religious zealot faction of the GOP because he complimented the President...
And I am sure N1RGR and Highpockets will be along shortly to also give the administration credit for this capture

I'll be the first to give obama and his crew a thumbs up, but, the first mistake they made was to bring him to NY, they should have sent him to Gitmo and give him a military trial.

I am not going to elaborate on the boards.
Read and research your "Terror" criminals whom are tried abroad, and those tried in the United States (most likley New York ).
You will see why, and the large differences, in the location of the trials.
I see not only the criminal reasons, but the judical reasons also.

Hmmmm, caught in Jordan.
Must of been there collecting arms from the CIA for the "rebels" in Syria.
CIA, "Here you go, four cases of RPG,s and 20,000 rounds of ammo to carry out our plan. Just remember, Israel get's to overfly the country when we bomb Iran. Got it?"
Ghaith, "Yeah yeah. Just like the others. Don't worry, we'll treat you right."
CIA, "You do look familiar, have we met before?"
Ghaith looks around nervously, "Uh, No. My cousin told me about the other "uprisings". I better get these to my fighting brothers now".
CIA, "Okay and good,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,Hey wait! Now I remember you!"

What I meant was that in NYC, a jury would most likely have at least one person that was affected by the 9/11 attack.
Thus, in spite of the voir dire process, it would tend to have a negative impact on the outcome for the accused.
So far, it seems to me (and yes, I would really need to sit down and do some research), those who have been tried in NYC for terrorist activities get what they deserve.
Am I wrong?

Im with Highpockets with this one! Sorry to take the wind out of your sails Marshall! Obama does have a pretty good kill record! Not bad for a guy who once mocked Bush as a war monger and criminal for Gitmo water boarding! Speaking of water boarding thats exactly where this terrosist needs to be. Getting water boarded!

Let's hope for a short trial, a quick conviction and a well-earned slow execution for this *&^%&&.

Trial? It would have been a lot cheaper for us all
to have just shot him while 'escaping' in Jordan.
Dead man tell no tale.

Or, leave him in a room with the 9/11 families.
He would not last too long.

I sort of disagree. Every citizen in the United States was affected by 9/11 in my belief. I have no family connection to 9/11, but I know that day had a tremoundous affect on me. I believe I felt the heartache like everyone else in New York did.....and the family involved.

A military tribunal - Per se - and a civilian court. Who has been tried on a military basis, and whom has been sent to the United States for trial? Not to elaborate on the boards, but if you spend about 30 minutes researching.....you will see what I mean.
All. One more thing. Compare whom has met their death by a drone, and whom was captured and put on trial. That is interesting. Clue - same people of same importance and clout within a terror organization - to wit : Al-Qaeda = one person got a trial and life imprisonment, the other met their fate by a drone attack. Seems the government needs to amend their EEO practices. ( ha-ha-ha-ha )
Capture the high value target using a U.S Army Special Forces / Delta........ or SEAL Team -------- Or...Or commit to a drone strike. As reported, and as I have read in texts - Leon Panetta ( CIA Director ) was the person to give the "Go" or "No Go" on drone attacks.
Again, my emphasis = Individuals of same importance within a terror group. One met their fate by a drone attack ( Was killed ) , and the other was captured ( most as I understand were reported captured by foreign intelligence personnel...Hmmmm ) and sent to the U.S for trial.
What differenciates ones mans life from another......In the eyes of the White House and the Central Intelligence Agency. Hence my EEO punch at the U.S Government.
And why has the press not published anything like this? Cause they want to keep it quiet.

Or another repeat, or similarity of the Iran-Contra affair.
Iran-Contra, supplying the Afghans against the Soviets...and the list goes on.
When I served, we called the U.S Army the "World Police".

Haven't we been the "World Police" for a couple of generations now?
US Marine general Smedley Butler wrote his book "War is a Racket" in 1935, talking all about how the US military made the world safe for big business going back to the turn of the last century!

Yeah, the US has been the world police for quite awhile.
I suppose it must be so though, given that the CIA creates most of the bad guys.
To answer some questions posed above, some Al-CIA-duh are droned because they know too much and a court proceding would make the information public. Those that are captured and tried are the ones that were involved in planning attacks and what-not but did not know specifics of CIA involvement in the organization. They do not have information harmful to the US.
