database administrator for canada
has any one in western Canada become a database and/or forums administrator in the last few days? how about any one from Canada?
I am just hoping that it will not be all Americans looking after Canada. I do know that MikeOxlong is out there and from Central Ontario. it sounds like Jay911 will be away from the site.
i am not trying to be disrespectful to are American scanner friends. I just think it should stay as local as possible. We all know that knowing the area is a big help.

Well.... I was rejected the application, but I really hope it is a Canadian looking after the CANADIAN side of things. No offence to the Americans, but seriously, how much sense does it make to have them running the Canadian part of the DB. Like I said, hopefully a Canadian.

easy there guys....
The local DB Admins appear to all be from canada, but there are also global admins... Many are from the US, but Local admins theoretically would work canadian submissions first.
Does this really have to be an US vs. Canada discussion?

I also was told no also. What has me asking this is I was told by Eric Carlson when he first replayed to me about being an Administrator for Alberta is "We are trying to expand our admin coverage of Canada." So I am trying to find out what the outcome is for Canada and western Canada more specifically.
burner50 I am sorry that I may have given you the idea that I am against Americans being a part of the Canadian database. if it was some one from Montana I would have nothing against that as there near by. I do not what to have this become a "US vs. Canada discussion." I am just tying to find out if there is any on from western Canada that has been granted Database Administrator states. I was planning on seeing what the response was here in western Canada for a few days then post in eastern Canada.
I can not see what Administrators can look after Alberta, Saskatchewan, British Columbia, or the rest of Canada database. So how do I know how is looking after use. Like I said above MikeOxlong is from Central Ontario and the only one that has been working Alberta from what I can see.

I just checked and that fact is just not true of the 34 Canadian 2 have not logged in over a year almost everyone has been on today or in the last few days, and about 8 or so and not been here in the last 30 days or January of this year.

I know of two RR Western Canada forums members asked to take over this position. Both turned it down. Obviously Eric is looking to place someone of his own selection or by recommendation of the previous DB admin

As I had said I was going by what I was told by another administrator and as I have said above I can not see who the administrators are for Alberta and the rest of Canada. if there is some place that I can go to can you let me and use know were to find it.

Of all the people who have/had access to the Western Canadian provinces, I was the only one to do any DB administration for a period of over a year. Maybe that's because I jumped on it too quickly for others to get at it, but the end result was that when I had to give it up, 15 to 20 submissions for Western Canadian entities sat in the pending queue for around a month, before a "global" got around to going at them.

I guess I should back off of my original statement when I said 34 I meant the whole Country, and I do not know how the whole east and the west thing goes. I was just stating that Canada has 34 DbAmin's as far as I could see under who manages what. Sorry for adding to the confusion. But the op that I was responding to was talking about the whole country.

If its allowed I would like to know who the new Canada DB admins are. Or if they havent been chosen yet when can we excpect an announcement?
And lastly. Thank you to all the Database admins for keeping everything up to date. I know its a hard job with all the random submissions.

There's about 15 DB Admins specifically for Canada and 1 Global Admin (myself) from Canada.
Out of the 16, there's about 6 that are regularily active.
The best place to ask your questions regarding Database Admins is in the Site Administration forum or PM Eric Carlson, the lead Database Admin, direct.

so you are saying that 10 DB Admins for Canada are not doing what others on this forum would like to do. Is there a point that if you are not active in you DB Admins role that you lose the states?
I know MikeOxlong that you have worked 2 of my Submissions last mouth and I thank you. how ever the Submissions were sitting there for 12+ days and I have 2 more that have been setting for 5 full days now. I think that is a little excessive. I am not taking shots at you and the other 5 that are active. I don’t now what the Submission loud is for all of Canada but it is showing that you need help form DB Admins that do the DB Admins job.
And if the question was not seen:
Is there a point that if you are not active in you DB Admins role that you lose the states?

That is a very good question. Well, 2 good questions. Why are the DB Admin's who haven't been on "regularly" allowed to retain that title when there are others, such as myself and omrail, who are willing to assist this site?
I have noticed that Mike is always processing my submissions for the RCMP SK DB, why can't there be a Saskatchewan DB Admin? Or at least someone who is willing to do what they are supposed to be doing. And yes, I realize the DB Admins are "on volunteer time".
We're submitting our information to this site, a reference site, and taking the time and making the effort to find this info out, submit this info and to wait for the info to be processed.
The least this site could do is find someone who is willing enough to do the job they are supposed to do. Unlike the ones who aren't "regularly" on.

And once again, I recommend that you ask these questions in the Site Administration forum or PM Eric Carlson direct.

Since this issue has now been brought up in the Admin forum, any further discussion of the topic is moot.
