Radio Shack pro-668 Provincial Public Safety Telecommunications Network

Hi there,
I programmed the system to the pro-668 scanner with the scanner program that comes with it.and it won't stop on any of the RCMP frequencies...I know that they are encrypted.It works great with EMS and Fire in the province.Does any one have any experience with this type of scanner?

NO SCANNER WORKS ON ENCRYPTED RADIOS. It works good with P25 Phase 1 and P25 Phase 2

The scanner should still pick up the frequency even if it is encrypted.

Unless the broadcasts are in a format the scanner can't decode, like motobo, provoice, nxdn, etc.

I see it is a P25 Phase 1 system with P25 Digital and Encrypted Talk Groups both. Have you turned on all the type services you want to hear under the library import page.

Have you assigned those talk groups to the favorites list that is turned on?
Your system that you are trying to track has to have a radio affiliated with the tower site you are monitoring these new P25 multi site systems the radios tell the towers and controllers what tower they are working on and only towers with that talk group affiliated with them are the only towers that transmit.

Yes I have...I just noticed that when I was in the library import section under agencies...RCMP F Division that the channels that are encrypted you can't select the box,it has a x on the box.

In the Library Import I think I remember an option to skip encrypted channels.

Yes I have that option unchecked.In the advanced tab it exists too.

Got it working...I took out the sd card and programmed the system with updates to another sd card via card reader and now it works!

We are all still learning with the new SD card scanners thanks for the update. But anytime anything is silly that is the 1st option.
