After listening a little longer, District 7 units were helping with the Code 900, at the same time they were blocking off the area for an officer involved shooting

Officer-involved shooting shuts down Riverfront Avenue - Calgary - CBC News

I think code 900 is officer involved shooting, where Code 200 is "Officer in trouble" goes out when less lethal (Baton, Tazer, and OC spray is used)

Can any one help? (Without hijacking the thread like last time?)

I heard that as well, but had not put the 2 together. I know they were talking about road closures but all I knew was there was a shooting. Didn't hear anything about a code 200 but the code 900 makes some sense in this incident.

I've got these figured - anyone got a more comprehensive list?

Code 100 Bank hold up
Code 200 Officer in trouble
Code 300 Weapon call
Code 400 Bomb

I can remember when the first 40 or so were alphabetically ordered... looks like some terminology has changed in the intervening decades.

Somebody should probably update the wiki article.

Thundermedic this is quite the find thanks. It reminds me of when I was a kid listening to EPS on a tuneable radio. Went to a police expo and found the two VHF frequencies written on pieces of paper in the display. Also got to meet the meanest sounding dispatcher in the city. He turned out to be anything but mean:)

When the eight channel Pro 88 crystal scanners came out I had the frequency numbers to order.

Are you taking offers ? I am sure it is in 'that box' in your closet. :D:D

The timing is good .. I will try to remember these in Calgary tomorrow.

I still have my 6 channel PRO22 with RCMP and EPS crystals in it.

The good old days of trying to figure out the frequencies and then making the trip over to the Radio Shack in the mall next to the Woolco at 170 st & Stony Plain Road. Of course you then had to wait 3-4 months for them to show up, but it was sure exciting when they did!!

Totally true. It drove me crazy when the RCMP went from 2 channels to 8. I was ordering all sorts of crystals to find the correct ones. But for me it was at The Capilano Radio Shack. I did spend lots of time snooping in the Centennial Mall RS as it was called then when I was in the west end. It was fantastic news when RS came out with the 16 channel crystal scanners:lol:

Has anyone heard CPS using the "Out of Service Codes" from the "Calgary County" wiki?

Out of Service Codes
7700 Meal Break

7710 Preventative Policing

7711 School Visit

7712 Security Activity

7713 Licensed Premise Walk-thru

7714 Commercial/Residential Walk-thru

7715 Block Watch/Community Meeting

7716 Residential Checks

7720 Court Attendance

7731 Follow-Up

7732 Search Warrant

7733 Warrant/Arrest

7734 Check-Up

7735 Subpoenas

7740 Special Activity

7741 Meeting

7742 District Office

7743 Equipment Repairs

7744 Training

7745 Special Attention

7746 Report Writing

7750 Traffic Stop

7751 Non-Critical Enforcement

7761 Garage Fingerprint Examination

7762 Stolen Vehicle Examination

7763 Exhibit Locker Examination

7764 Photographic Assignment

7765 Camera Reset

The only time I have heard 7750 is the Photo-Radar units when they set up, I have never heard any other ones being used.

With the new list, I am going to update the Wiki page with the correct codes, and leave the "Out of Service" ones alone for now, but I think they can go away...

Thoughts? Feedback?

In Edmonton some of the previously used voice codes have become MWS codes

The 77.. codes are used mostly on the CAD..... usually its only traffic units transmitting them on the radio as they don't have CADs (Photo radar & motorcycles)

Hey, the contract is out for tender to keep it alive for the next 10 years.

But it could be worse, we could be going to AFRRCS...
