Maybe the techs are building something and wanted it off the main system for now. 00C is the Newfoundland Provincial Radio provincewide system, but I've also heard that someone in a US state has seen it (or maybe they saw 00A - I forget which).

That's not the correct frequency for an NPR site and there would be next to no reason for PPSTN and NPR to be linked, so...

EDIT: When I know several neighbors of an unknown site, I take the neighbor sites' lat/long and average them out and it often gets me pretty close to where the site is. Of the sites you listed, Crooked Lake and Broadview don't have location data in the RRDB, but the other three do. The "average" of their location suggests this tower might be near Sintaluta (between Indian Head and Wolseley).

system 00A

Site #2 is new to the area, it started showing up as a neighboring site not all that long ago.
The information for site 2 in the RR DB is incorrect.
I think that this site is one of PPSTN's two portable sites.
I have seen RIDs 2268#### trying to get on system 00A but they can not for some reason.
Maybe they are using system 00C ?
I will go for a drive and see just where it is or if it really exists.

Site 133 location ?

My data shows that site #133 is in fact in the Wynyard and Raymore district to the north of those other sites.
Could this system be being used by a provincial government Potash company in that area ?

Those frequencies are all PPSTN channels.

I was just thinking that sometime a while back I deleted a System 00C file folder that pro96com had created for some unknown reason. I did not even look in that folder before I trashed it. It had to have been decoding data from an 00C site for the program to create such a folder. Too soon olt and to late shumart !

is it 00C or 00A ?

Looking at data from PPSTN site # 61 this morning shows site # 05 Regina having a site ID of 00C different. I was in Regina and decoded site 05's data on January 9, 2016 and that site data shows it's ID as 00A.
What are they doing ? No one will be able to use that site.
Looking at data from the PPSTN site # 17 from January 9, 2016 for the Regina UHF 800 MHZ, shows that SaskPower Regina City units are all now on that system and not on the VHF system like SaskPower Regina Rural units and all the others in the province.

It could be that's their way of preventing people from using those sites while they're testing something on them. Or maybe they're testing cross-system functionality (roaming onto a different SID)...

Add new system ID ?

The PPSTN has 260 sites right now. Each site in the system has it's own site radio that does a location registration to it's own site. Each of these site radios has it's own talkgroup ID. These talkgroups start at 301 and end at 596. It looks like they planned for a 295 site system when they started.

If there is a hard limit of 256 sites for each system ID then they would require a second system ID to get to their planned limit of 295 sites. In my part of the province there are already 4 sites showing the new system ID of 00C.

Sites
02-02
04-04
05-05
133-133

Should the RR DB be updated to show this new system ID of 00C ?

IMO, the answer to this question coincides with the answer to another question: Are these sites carrying live traffic? If there is actual communications going on that is part of the regular operations of the system, then yes, they should be included. If not, treat it as a testbed (and not part of the main system) until proven otherwise.

On January 9, 2016 I traveled to site 05 Regina after seeing data from site # 61 that showed it's system ID was coming up 00C.
Looking back a data from December 2015 shows site #05 as 00A.

I do not have any channel grant data from the other 00C sites at this time.
Can a site sent both system IDs or just one ?
Will all the radios have to be reprogrammed for this new system ID so they can use all of the sites in the system ?
Site # 05 is showing 00C right now and it is one o the most used in the system.

On January 9, 2016 I traveled to site 05 Regina after seeing data from site # 61 that showed it's system ID was coming up 00C.
Looking back a data from December 2015 shows site #05 as 00A.

I would only submit sites to the DB if they are broadcasting traffic in their current condition. You should know that just because site 061 says that its neighbor site 005 is on SID 00C, that doesn't mean that the site you know as 005 in 00A is now in 00C. The hierarchy of a P25 system ID is:

WACN
SID (system ID)
RFSS
Site ID

(that's simplified, to an extent, but the point is valid just the same)

In other words, WACN 0000A does not have to have only one "site" 005 (more appropriately RFSS 005 Site 005). Just because 00A-061-061 is announcing that it has a neighbor site of 00C-005-005, doesn't mean that site 00A-005-005 no longer exists.

If 00A-005-005 is still broadcasting that SID, RFSS, and Site, that's not the site that 00A-061-061 is referring to.

Sites can only broadcast one combination of WACN, SID, RFSS, and Site ID. In other words, the Regina site cannot be 0000A-00A-005-005 and 0000A-00C-005-005 at the same time.

Looking back over all the information provided in this thread, I would suggest that the suspicion that SID 00C is being added to allow for more than 254 sites is correct, and that the reason you're seeing same-numbered sites with differing SIDs has to do with either (a) prevention of roaming from the sites being built out/tested onto the live system and/or (2) indication of new sites in SID 00C being prepped for rollout.

Take note that 00C-005-005 does not have to be in Regina nor at all related to 00A-005-005. As an example, in Alberta's system, we have 660C5-05B-004-004 which is just NW of the city of Medicine Hat, which if you're not aware is more-or-less on the border with SK near Maple Creek. However, 05A-004-004 is in Ponoka, which is several hundred km northwest of there, roughly on the same latitude as North Battleford.

Jay is so right again !

Thank you so much Jay. Now I understand. Just looking at my data again and I can see that site 05-00A is transmitting on 139.2450 mhz and site 05-00C is transmitting on 139.2600 mhz. This the beginning of a whole new system with different channels altogether. I went looking for site 004-00C yesterday but could not find it for some reason. Now I have to look for site 005-00C as it is not located in Regina. Lots of traveling to do now and many more DB updates to follow. Thanks again Jay !
