Anyone in the Vancouver,BC area been scanning and know the PNE (Pacific National Exhibiton)/Playland frequencies?havent been able to find them on vhf-maybe uhf?

Wow there's a lot there, thanks for those. Now to figure out what each channel's uses are, (security, maintenance, etc..) Put a few in this morning, but haven't heard anything thus far. Perhaps i'm too far away as well. Anyone near Vancouver wanna give these a try and tell me if there's anything on them?

Seeing as fair is seasonal (closed now) you will hear squat, when Coliusem has an event (hockey game concert etc, they use coliseum channel 462.0125 low power you have to be close to hear it, I heard the parking channel the other day chan 5 460.7875 must of been an event at coliseum, but the fair is closed Open in July / August so you will have to wait till than

I was in Burnaby today and had 462.0125 switched on. Heard a few things, nothing much though. Guess there wasn't an event on. Must have low powered repeaters. Ever hear anything good on either of those two?

Are you located in Vancouver, or the tri-cities? I'm in Coquitlam & can't seem to hear them until the burnaby exits on the freeway. Would low power repeaters be to blame? Or bad antenna location? Ever hear anything good on those channels?

They likely have restrictions on ERP and radius of operation. PNE likely does not require a huge footprint if they only operate in a small area.

If an antenna on a 60' tower on site gives them the coverage they need why bother putting the repeater on a site on Mt. Seymour when they will never be outside of the grounds.

The main channel for the PNE Security is indeed 462.0125. If you look in TAFL you will notice that there are about 25 other licensed entities in the Greater Vancouver area who also utilize this frequency. The same goes for the parking channel on 460.7875.

Most venues like the PNE, including but not limited to, BC Place, Rogers Arena, Canucks Sports & Entertainment, the BC Lions, Vancouver Whitecaps, etc. utilize "temporary" low-power, rental frequencies in their radios as, for the most part, they are seasonal. To answer your original question, Playand is on 461.0125 which again is duplicated numerous times throughout the Greater Vancouver area.

Thank goodness for CTCSS / DCS / NAC tones to weed out the other stuff!
