Multiple tables transmitted?

I have been examining a new VHF P25 trunked system that is being assembled in my area. The current control channel is transmitting 7 different tables. Does that mean that this system will use all of them, or is it a default that such systems send all possible tables?

I'm pretty sure that would be possible tables. I see one for 800MHz and 700MHz here, however only the 800MHz plan is in use.

Dave. I am assuming you are seeing the same tables out there that I am here, starting with and 851.xxxx and the second is a 762.xxxx. Those first two are bogus for scanning purposes. They do serve some system purpose I believe. The remaining 5 are actually used in the system, but not necessarily by that praticular site. If you look at the channel numbering in Pro96Com the first two digits relate to the frequency table, the second group of 4 digits are the logical channel numbers. The system is required to send all the tables becasue of the adjacent site information. In a P25 system, no frequency information is sent except in the tables, all other information is sent as a channel number.

I am able to follow the system with PRO96COM and two scanners.

The PSR-500 scanner has "P25 Manual" and "P25 Auto" options for system types, and either "standard" or "custom" scanning tables. I haven't checked my other digital scanners, but I'm sure they have similar options for tables.

The question is, do my scanners (particularly the '500) need to be fed these tables or will they be able to track "automatically" like the software does?

If i remember right from reading the threads about 500/600 capabilites, they should be able to control channel only. I belive the 396T can also. All the information needed to scan a P25 system is sent over the control channel, I believe the 500/600 are designed to make use of it.
