NXDN Programming?
Has anyone here set up a NXDN system yet? I'm Curious to see a Sample set up, Its Suppose to be somewhat like a Normal LTR Trunked system but I Here that there is Something Called system key, Unlike /\/\'s, would anyone have a Sample setup that they would be willing to share?
Thanks Al

So then you would have no idea of the System key that is required to program a digital trunking system that i was talking about?

I'm guessing you have Kenwood NEXEDGE radios, which apparently already have trunking available. To the best of my knowledge, Icom hasn't released their trunking capabilities. So you'll need to find someone who has the Kenwood radios, if that's the case. Last I heard, sometime before the year is out, IP Networking and Digital Trunking will be released by Icom.

Well I Ordered the Radio (N800) Low Split (400-470mhz) but they aren't available Yet, So I switched to the high split (450-520mhz), I Purchassed the Software to play around with, To my surprise This Software wont program the low split UHF NXDN. In Order to check out the NXDN on the software, you have to make a system key, thats why I'm asking if someone has a sample set-up that I could view how and what you need to program the NXDN,???????
Any Ideas?
Thanks AL

I just received 2 new NX-300-K2 radios, so the 400-470 is now available, you must of just missed the new release when you ordered yours. Also, the software I got will program both low and high split. It has both 400-470 and 450-520 as selections listed under Model - Product Information.
In looking at the software, you only need a system key if programming trunking. Although I have not done anything with these yet, it looks like you can program conventional NXDN under the conventional system.

The Software I Have is KPG-111D Ver 1.21 under the Model- Product Information, it only has 450-520mhz.
on my Software. What Version is Yours?
Have you tried to get into the NXDN Trunking?? It should say Something about "System Key Reqired" (That is Only Available with the Service Managers Software), I tried to Order it from the States But the Dealer there couldn't find it. I Believe it should be KPG-110SM????
Has Anyone Come Across That Software or know Anything about it????
Thanks AL

The only way to order the KPG-110SM (which is a copy of the software along with a separate CD containing a system key file) is to actually own an NXDN trunking system. Kenwood will only sell the SM version with system key to a customer that purchases a system. This includes dealers. There is a lot of protection on these keys to make sure that not just anybody can get one and program up radios on NXDN, MPT-1327, or P25 Trunking with Kenwood radios.
The KPG-110SM software is the exact same package. If you had a file that contains trunking info, you can view it, but just like Motorola, you can't make any trunking changes without the system key.
The programming is a lot like MPT-1327. If you have specific questions, PM me. Hope this helps.

My particular version of programming software is 1.31, so it is newer.
I currently just have mine programed for conventional NXDN since I do not have a system yet.

I was trying to purchase the NX800 Radio 450-520mhz since the software that I purchased only would program that Range and either radio could handel the frequencies that I Needed, but for some reason the Canadian Authorized Dealer said that he could only order the 403-470mhz (Canadain version) from Kenwood, If Kenwood sold me a Version that was updated less than a Month later, Do they Not Send a Update of the Software????? The Place that I Purchassed the Software in the USA sugessted to try to Hook up the lower Range Radio to see what happens when I try to program a Radio that is out of range for the Software, But I have to wait untill I get the New Radio that I Ordered.
Also for the Conventional NXDN is the Used or Group ID set up the Same as Normal type Conventional ID's???????
Thanks for any Help

I do not believe Kenwood charges for any updates as long as you purchased the original software from an authorized dealer. Have your dealer check their "special" dealer website for an updated version.
The conventional NXDN is set up similiar to a conventional analog channel except you use a "RAN" code instead of a CTCSS or DCS code.
