Default Control Channel as Conventional?

So i am not sure if i am asking this in the right place or form,

But i am getting an XTS 800mhz, and i want to track a Local P25 System with 800mhz Control Channels as a conventional P25 channel,

Now this is what i am trying to explain

For example :

There is another local 800mhz Multinet system in my area, and i know you cant track Multinet, so i put the frequency in as conventional channel, but i am not able to track talkgroups, i am just able to hear all the open traffic on this channel,

Now, with the system i want to track, it is a P25 Omnilink system, If i input the control channels for each site as conventional P25, will i be able to track them conventionally without the "data" sound??

You would scan all the voice frequencies, not the active control channel (it will be the one buzzing with data).

Awsome, One last question, now when i program the voice channels, do i program as P25 Conventional with no NAC?
I know when i program an EDACS or Multinet channel i dont put a PL or DPL and i program them conventional analog.
