Default Thales 25 Encryption problem

I am trying to get some Thales 25 to speak to each other with DES incryption.

I have successfully loaded a key into each radio with PC Programmer.

My 503 seems to work fine, but when I key up on the 501 I get the tone and key fail.

Is there anything I should check first?

Any help appreciated.

I pulled this off of the other thread since it seemed to be in the wrong place.

I assume you're talking about CVSD analog encryption or P25 encryption. I've had no issue with my 501 working in analog encryption mode.

Check your settings again and make sure that each radio's channel parameters and encryption parameters match.

Also, I found an odditiy with these. I couln't get mine to talk to a saber at all. I found out that it worked as long as the key was comprised completely of numbers and no A-F hex characters. I spoke with someone there about it but got no explanation. They sounded as if they never heard of the issue before.

Another thing I noticed... I used to have a 501 series with original firmware. It would decode encrypted P25 comms even though it was not fitted with that option. It wouldn't allow you to transmit but you could hear. Once I updated it with the newest firmware all P25 encryption was lost just like my others that don't have the feature installed.

Thanks for the replies.

I am running the latest flash in each radio. 8.3 in the 503 ans 5.13 in the 501.

I am trying to encrypt p-25 digital simplex. I have an encrypted channel shadowed to a regular p-25 channel.

I dumped the same codeplug with a key into both radios. 503 does it, 501 chokes.

It just double checked and p-25 DES is enabled in the flash.

Has anyone attempted to load keys with 3011bx KVL into the Thales 25? I have one for my Sabers and am wondering if get the new EEPROM upgrade will it work on the Thales?

I just got off the phone with Thales and the radio has lost it's serial number.

It has to go back to Thales on an RMA but it's a free fix. Also found out that the upgraded accessory connectors are also free from them, but you must call and not order through the website.

So you called Maryland direct?
Do you know, does Thales have dealers around the country?
Or is everything bought and repaired directly through the Maryland address on their website?

I actually emailed customer support through their website and received a call back from a technical person.

I am not sure if they have a sales network or dealers in place. I don't think they do as this is strictly an expensive public safety radio.

There is a Yahoo group just started for this radio, and hopefully it will become as good as Batlabs is for Big M gear.
