Default Cigarette Lighter Power Adapter

Just wondering about the saftery of the 3 socket power boards for the 12v cigarette lighter socket in my 2008 VW Golf. Parents wont allow me to modify the car in ANY way so i need to use one to power everything for my mobile shack.

Thanks

The first question I have is what are you looking at powering. A rough guess would be you have a 10 amp fuse for the outlet and if all the items you wish to use add up below 10 amps you should be fine.

Looking at powering:
Uniden RH96
Uniden Bearcat External Speaker
either the Uniden 396T or UBC72XLT

The 396T will normally be in the boot powered of its own power plug in the boot (trunk) with cords running up front to the RH96 and speaker while the 72XLT will be up front with its own power and using the internal speaker.

Use just one cigarette plug, and run it to a terminal strip mounted somewhere, then power the three radios off the terminal strip. And don't forget in-line fusing. (I know that was said before, but it's worth repeating).

Most have a in-line fuse in the tip. Just get a good one.

Ive used the 12VDC 3-Outlet Car Power Adapter - RadioShack.com
for many years.
