Default 2000 Chevy S10 firewall

Hello All, I'm installing a Kenwood TM-V71A into my 2000 Chevy S10 and was wondering if anyone had a suggestion for the best place to go through the firewall with the power cables? Thanks in advance.

Pull back the carpet on the passenger side of the truck where it meets the firewall. There should be a plastic wiring channel. Above the channel you should see a big rubber grommet for the antenna coax. This is probably the easiest spot to run a wire or drill another hole. Its a bit low on the firewall so make sure you seal it well.

Driver side is usally a good place to go. There is always extra space on the driver side and ur not dealing with the huge heater box. There room in the harness that run up to the engine.

If you s10 is manual tranny then you will need to find a grommet or drill a new hole. However if the s10 is an automatic look for the block off plate where the master cylinder for the clutch would be and you can put a hole in there. Good luck with the install -JOEYD

Thanks again for the tips. I was able to go through an existing grommet on the driver's side and it has been working very well for me. Very satisfying to finally finish.

Where exactly is the grommet you found to use?

I used the same grommet that the main wiring harness goes through. There's a lot of extra space to the left of the main bundle and although the rubber's pretty thick and interior access is tight, it wasn't too hard to work with.

Whew, sorry for the delay so here are some photos of the radio in my truck. It's mounted on a CB console that I bought from Mobile Music in Richmond. I have no idea what brand it is though. Cost $20 and I like it because I can put the radio in and take it out real fast so I have the comfort of knowing it can't be stolen when the truck just sits there for long periods. The other mount you see is for my CB that wasn't in there when I took the picture.

Thanks. The wires and cable that you see in the pic is all that's visible and the CB covers it up pretty well. What's not visible is the split-loom tubing I used to protect the coax cables.
