Wink Console Suggestions?-2002 CVPI

Hello,
I am looking to get a Pro 197 one of these days, and I wanted to get a jotto desk (or something similar)console to mount it in. Any suggestions as to what console I should get?

Thanks!

Sorry...put that in the title, but not the post.

I have a 2002 CVPI. Pics of my current set-up are found here:

You win 100 internets for owning a CVPI and not turning it into a whacker-mobile. Good for you.

You may find the pricetag of a Jotto or Havis console to be prohibitive to only install a scanner.

LOL thanks!!

What do you mean? The price for a console wouldn't be worth it if I put just one scanner in it? Do you have other, more practical suggestions?

Thanks!!

yeah if you only have a scanner the cost of a console may not be worth it. If you had a remote head for your scanner you could mount it anywhere very clean. I would spend the money from the console and get a better scanner with a remote head and mount that-JOEYD

Thank you for the input!

I was looking at getting an RS 197, so, as far as I know, the remote head is out of the question. But, maybe I can figure something out with the console I have in there now.

Does anyone have any experience with mounting a mobile to the space where the cup holders used to be?

Thanks again!

Here is an idea for you, I used a Gamber-Johnson mount that bolted to the seat mounts and would allow you to mount a radio over the transmission hump. Here is a link to how it was done and some pictures along with the URL to the Gamber-Johnson website with specific info on the mount.

I have also mounted a remote head to the area under where the cup holders would be. You have to remove the cupholders and you would be able to mount your bracket under it. You will probably need some spacers between the area of your bracket and where the screws would be mounted.

If you need further details, send me a PM.

Here is the link to my post on the install:

Pretty much. The cost of the console, face plates and base plate (if needed) and the like will be around $200-300. If you are only mounting one piece of equipment, you may find that price to be a tad steep. I'm certainly not discouraging you from doing it, but just pointing out the cost vs. use issue.

Something like firetaz did may be more suiting to your needs.

Firetaz has been awesome in helping me out. I'm going to mimic his install and post pics when I'm done.
