Default 2013 Ford Explorer antenna mounting

I am in the process of acquiring a Ford Explorer and not doing a hole mount. I know most likely everyone will say a hood mount but I am also considering a glass mount. I am not worried about signal strengths, gain, bandwidth, etc, etc. I am also looking for pics of hood mounts on the new Ford Explorers, so please let me see!!!

The one thing about glass mounts you have to be concerned with is factory tinted windows, usually they do not mix to well.

Are you using the glass mount for scanning only or you looking at transmitting also? If transmitting, I would stay away from them and go with a cowl mount or if you can go with a two-axis lip mount for your back hatch if its possible.

Yea, I know about metallic tint and how glass-mounts won't work with them. My only use would be for recieving and used with a scanner. Monday (1/7) I will have the new vehicle and will have to check the markings on the window for the tint and see what the front hood looks like.

IIRC, the Hood might require some creative work getting a bracket to look correct. I have recently seen agencies using regular L bracket mounts on the Roof Rails of the roof rack, or even to the door jambs of the rear doors, KHP is one known for this, they seem to work decent and look ok. Personally, especially on the new PI Utility vehicles that I have done, the headliners are so simple to pop down that a nice black low profile antenna via NMO mount would be the only way to go!
