Like what was said before you can see if it will help before you go to all the trouble by powering the scanner from an external battery. If you still hear the noise then it isn't coming from the car electrical system.

Good Luck!

So, after all was said and done, this weekend...I did not install the scanner in my Tucson. After running the power, I still had the static interference on low band. I was very disillusioned at that point. Rather than go through any more hassle, I decided to yank the BC355N out of the vehicle and use it as my new base in the house. I am going to get a 100-200 channel portable to use in the vehicle. I am looking for recommendations in a thread I created in the Radio Shack scanners area.

As far as the Radio Shack antenna I bought, I just have it in the house and am using it in place of the back of set antenna on the BC355N. I will use that for the portable in the car once I get the portable. Then I will look toward some type of all-band antenna for the attic for my base.
