Default Pro 96 CPU upgrade news and cost $49.00

I live in Rochester, N.Y. I took my Pro 96 into Radio Shack with some information from RadioReference about the CPU upgrade. The salesperson was very friendly and worked with me on sending my Pro 96 to service center 40-0804.

Radio Shack Service Center
2516 NE Loop 820
Fort Worth, TX 76106

New phone number for that service center and is: 1 817 415-9300

If you call this number you can find out if the scanner has arrived. I sent the scanner in Monday 3/14/05 and it arrived there Thurs 3/24/05, so it took ten days to send the scanner from Rochester, N.Y. to Fort Worth, TX. I recieved a call from a technician the same day that it arrived there Thurs 3/24/05 and he told me the parts were in stock and that he would try to send it back to the Rochester, N.Y. Radio Shack the same day Thurs 3/24/05 or definately the next day. The new cost for the upgrade is $49.00. I can't wait to get my Pro 96 back. I have missed it ever since the day I took it in. I should get it back around 4/4/05.

I got a call from Radioshack 3/29/05 and went and picked up my scanner.

Service Invoice States:

Serviced by:

Strategic Service Solutions, 40-0804
4800 Alliance Gateway, Suite 130
Fort Worth, Texas 76177

Manager: Dan Paulsen
(817) 415-9300 fax (817) 415-9301

Technician Comments:

Repaired Logic Circuits.
Aligned unit to maximum performance levels.
Tested all functions.
Upgrade.

From what I can see there is a little more to this upgrade than just replacing the CPU with an updated version.

I hope this message can be of help to anybody who wants to upgrade their Pro96. Don't forget to take to Radio Shack information from
this site about the upgrade so they know what you are talking about.

1) Your dates are off (unless this is in the future)
2) The projected price for the BCD396T is in the 5-hundreds, not $700+

NEW cost $49? That's the same it's been since day one.
