Default Pro 96 and 2096 at certain dealers - factory seconds?

I read in another thread that dealers like scannermaster and scanners unlimited get factory second Pro 96 or 2096 scanners. Is this true? Or are they brand new without any defects like those from Radio Shack, including the 1 year warranty?

I have no idea if the radios are "seconds" or even if RS allows such things out of production stream. I will say if you own a RS scanner then take a careful look at the warrenty. Usually in the first sentence you will see that the stipulation on the warrenty is that the radio must have been purchased from a company owned store, an authorized RS franchise or an authorized RS dealer. Just make sure where you buy your product fits one of those specifications and you have the receipt to prove it.

We buy brand new product direct from Radio Shack in Fort Worth and it's fully warrantied. If you're interested, please click on the Radioreference.com link to Scanner Master to buy the product. Thank you.

Well, Uniden's "reconditioned" units are (or used to be, I haven't bought one in awhile) branded with an "R" near the s/n sticker. No mistaking them. IF Radio Shack was allowing seconds or reconditions to be sold by anybody, I'd expect them to be marked in a similiar fashion. But I haven't heard of them selling any retread units.
