Default Pro-164 or PSR 300

I'm looking for comparison between tne Pro-164 and the PSR 300.

Any of you on here that have used either or both. What are the advantages of each and if you had your choice, which one would you buy and why. Any feedback appreciated.

They are both the same radio. They are just packaged differently.

As N1BHH says they are the same. There are obviously cosmetic differences and are marketed differently. I have the Pro-164 because I got a great deal on it second-hand, and I really like it. But I would not hesitate to buy the GRE either. So my recommendation is go with the best deal you can get on either radio, unless you have a preference for the cosmetics or in-store vs. mail order purchase. Just be aware when price comparing that the GRE includes accesories that you will need and have to purchase seperately at the Shack.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It seems that the PSR as Rockhound said gives more accesories and I won't have to buy a $12 dollar wall charger like the shack make you do.

If you read the wiki info on this site about the 300, there are no extra accessories included with this scanner than what is included with the 164. The only handheld scanner that comes with more than its radio shack counterpart is the 500. There is no wallwart, USB cable included with the 300. As stated before, cosmetic differences are the only differences between the two. Win300 programs both radios.
