Based on previous postings in several subjects and threads, am I correct in assuming that the Base, Spacing and Offset information does not need to be entered when programming a Motorola UHF trunked system into the Pro-106?

You do need them for Motorola UHF and VHF systems. You do not need them for P25 UHF and VHF systems if system is set to P25 Auto.

pro-106 question

Hi,
Can you give me directions how to program the base, offset and spacing for a motorola UHF analog system
on a pro-106, not by software but by keypad I don't see how to do it in the instructions.
Thank You

Thank You
In TSYS as follows:
PGM
EDIT (F2)
CURR ( F2)
Down to TSYS
SEL
Down 14 times to T Tables: Default
Right to T Tables:Custom
SEL on Table 01:

Lo Chan>SEL>FUNC CLR>enter number>DONE (F1)
Hi Chan same as above
Offset same as above
Base Freq same as above (don't forget Dec Pt)
Step same as above (don't forget Dec Pt)
Save (F1)
Do subsequent tables the same
After last required table, save out
If you make an error in any step use Exit (F2) and redo step.

Then system is a single custom table.
Lo Chan and Offset are 380
Hi Chan is 759
Base and step are as indicated in database page.

BTW, what system are you working with?

re pro-106

Hi,

The system is Morris County NJ these are the tables

Base Spacing Offset
471.0000 12.5 380
476.0000 12.5 520

for table 2 I set low chan at 380 and offset 520 is that right?

also does the pro-106 check for duplicate frequencies like all the older scanners do?
I set the global for dupecheck but when I program dupe conventional frequs it doesn't alert me
that I'm trying to program a dupe?

Try:

Table ChLo Ch Hi Offset Freq Spacing
1 380 519 380 471.0000 12.5
2 520 759 520 476.0000 12.5

Set as
Code:
LoCh HiCh Offset Base freq Step
380 519 380 471.000000 12.500
520 759 520 476.000000 12.500
also does the pro-106 check for duplicate frequencies like all the older scanners do?
For conventional freqs with same Squelch Mode and same Squelch Code settings yes. For TSYS frequencies from multi towers on Mot and P25 systems yes.
I set the global for dupecheck but when I program dupe conventional frequs it doesn't alert me that I'm trying to program a dupe
It may be the conventionals are from more then one agency with Mode set to Auto.

more UHF programming

I have followed your responses here and it has gotten me far in programming the tables for Bucks county PA. So thanks for that information. My tables are complete but I have a couple other questions.

Do I have to set System type to MOT VHF/UHF instead of MOT 800/900?
In additional to the table base frequency do I also have to program in the system freqs?
And does the order matter?
Is the Fleet Map Type II?
For the talk group do I enter the DEC or Hex data?

I currently have System set to MOT VHF/UHF, system frequencies for South Simucast 501.18750a 501.21250c 501.23750a, Fleet Map Type II and DEC 304 entered for Warminster police.

I hear no transmissions with these settings. Any advice? I also use the Radio Shack Pro-106.

Did you set the custom table for that system:

Base 501.0375 Ch Low 380 Ch High 759 Offset 380 Spacing 25.0

I do have the table set:

Base 501.0375 Ch Low 380 Ch High 759 Offset 380 Spacing 25.0

The parameter for my Pro-106 is step but I assume that is the same as spacing.

Correction. It is now working for me. I must have either been in a dead spot, out of range or there were no transmissions for a long time.

Thanks a lot for your help.

Mike
